http://www.edmontonjournal.com/sports/h ... story.html

"— We keep hearing that Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is out with a concussion and wouldn’t mind if the Sabres traded him. His wife is a California-based actress, but the Los Angeles Kings have Jonathan Quick between the pipes. The Anaheim Ducks have Jonas Hiller as their starter and the San Jose Sharks seem happy with Antti Niemi in net. Buffalo needs a high-end centre, but they have holes elsewhere, too. I don’t see a market in California for Miller, whose game has dropped off after his 2010 Olympics heroics in Vancouver."

I'm not confirming nor denying anything, but this is the guy who first mentioned Pegula's interest in buying the Sabres.
If true, this is exactly what I thought might happen. Fans and the media piled on Miller after a rough start and now he (might) want out. I think everyone saw what life without Miller is like at it's worst in the Columbus game. Even if this develops into a 1a 1b dynamic with Miller and Enroth, its better than Enroth/McIntyre. If he leaves, we may get some important pieces back, but, regardless of what people may think, Miller is an important part of this team. Enroth can't start every game.

Not gonna lie, I'm really not a fan of this even if it's just rumor-say.

Let's not be too dramatic here. Roy had won two Stanley Cups by the time he wanted out of Montreal. A split between Miller and the Sabres wouldn't carry anywhere near as much importance and emotional weight.

for real? miller was the face of the sabres for years. roy, as great as he was, still had some HOFers on his habs teams.

Roy revolutionized the position. Miller IS the face of the Sabres in a way Roy wasn't, but he isn't anywhere near as important to the team. I just don't like the comparison with Roy for that reason. Roy's split would be more like Marty Brodeur demanding a trade from the Devils.

Hypothetically speaking, I would think it would be a combination of issues. His team not coming to his aid and supporting him along with his wife living 2500 miles away could be affecting his feelings. If it's because the media/fans expect more from him and voice their feelings then he can go fuck himself and leave the sport. This is obviously all Hypothetical.... :D

Also Irony, Buffalo has already seen their greatest goalie (and player) in team history demand a trade, they survived. Losing Miller wouldn't be that hard IMO. Sorry to keep harping on this. It's probably because I was in school in Montreal in 1995 and I remember just how huge the Roy trade was to that city.

hasek to this day still brings out some serious emotions from sabres fans. also, that wasnt out of left field like roy was.

I would ask for more compensation than that to trade Miller.

If this is true, I really wouldn't mind seeing Miller leave.

I don't like the way he's handled his criticisms. I don't think he's completely owned up to his shortcomings the past 2 seasons the way a real professional should.

Has he been terrible? No. But that's not the point. The point is that he's not being the very best that he can be. For a guy that's supposed to be a leader, that's unacceptable in my eyes, and counterproductive to the ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup.

I hope he gets his game figured out.

any deal involving miller would require a good goaltender back. enroths not ready to handle a starting work load full time yet.

I don't agree with that assessment. I think this team would benefit more from another stay at home defenseman or a dynamic offensive talent.

Enroth will grow into the role over time.

yeah, over time, maybe. over the past 4 years, every sabre fan has complained that lindy rides miller and exhausts him. so, for the first time in forever, we have a super star goalie, and a young goalie growing into a solid solid NHL player, and everyone wants to shove miller out of town, and shove enroth into the lions den with drew mcintyre as the backup. absolutely the dumbest thing anyone could suggest. might as well just say, fuck it, maybe next year.

enroths numbers since stepping into the starters roll has dipped and thats evidence the kid isnt ready yet.

its also pathetic after all ryan miller has done for the sabres and the fanbase, that everyone is on him for being frustrated and saying some questionable things to the media. i know fans are fickle, but i had no idea they could turn on someone so fast. i guess someone has to be the scapegoat.

if miller doesn't want to be here, quite frankly i could do without hit after the way he has handled himself this season. he's shown such little emotion, on and off the ice- save for the lucic incident.. plus i think enroth has shown he can, and will, eventually be a dominant force in the crease.

but, i also think miller's trade value has to be at an all-time low. and if he were to demand a trade out, we'd get even less back in return. even if we're just talking hypothetically here, i wouldn't trade him just because i don't think we'd get anything worth it back.

1- If the Sabres traded Miller and if he did indeed ask for the trade then the city of buffalo would be in a minor shock but the real reaction would come about a year or two down the road after we see how Millers new team and the Sabres end up playing. If Miller sucks ass and end ups being a back up with Enroth playing stellar in goal then the Sabres look great. If Miller wins back to back Vezina's and Enroth ends up back in Rochester then the Sabres look stupid and the city might riot. Even in the middle were both are play well the Sabres still look dumb.

2- This would be as close to a PR disaster for the Sabres as they could get without some type of non-hockey scandal. The face of the franchise for the last several years, the olympic MVP, and the guy who said he wants to win the Cup in Buffalo is telling all potential free agents to pretty much go somewhere else.

While I think this might have been a "words in mouth" type thing where the guy asked "what would you think if Buffalo traded you?" and Miller responded with "The team can do what they want. I signed the contract to be here, I want to be here but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I ended up some place else."
