Ok, can anyone explain what the hell Lindy was doing last night. That was absolutely embarrassing to see musical goalies like that. Also, so much for the "goalie schedule" that Lindy said he was going to stick too. If he did then Enroth would have started....

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

There are many times when I have no idea what in the name of hell is going through Lindy's head.

You haven't seen that happen before? How much hockey do you watch?

I don't think I can remember seeing the starter get yanked twice. I know I've seen starter-backup-starter a bunch, but not starter-backup-starter-backup.

It didn't really matter anyway, but I do wonder why Enroth didn't start. Two of those first three goals were soft, and as fragile as the team is (not the goalies fault for that of course), the game was OVER after that. You never know how the rest would've played out. At the very least, it puzzles me why Ruff would start Miller two nights in a row, not HAVING to do that anymore post-Lalime, knowing Miller's poor history against Pitt. I just don't get it.

So you're saying what happened last night happens all the time in NHL games??? Starter, backup, starter, backup... REALLY???? I watch NHL games just about nightly and not just the Sabres. This may be the second time I've ever seen it. I don't know what feed you were able to watch but the Penguins announcers were laughing at the decision of putting Miller in for the second. They even thanked Lindy for doing so after they scored on him again.

Ryan was a fucking embarrassment last night, what was his save %? Didn't he let in like 5 goals on 8 shots or something? Where the hell has his focus gone, we would get utterly destroyed in a playoff series with goaltending like this.

The Penguins announcers are pillocks and homers to boot.

I'm not referring to the specific situation of starter-backup-starter-backup. That is kinda rare, but giving the starter a second chance in the same game is not taboo. Put yourself in the goalie's shoes. If you were pulled in the first period and the coach tells you in the intermission "you're back out there" it's a huge confidence booster. It happened to be in minor hockey a couple of times, both in the starter and backup position. I wasn't offended when I was the backup and I appreciated the second chance when I was the starter.

Ok, I've definitely seen that. With Miller's recent history I don't know if I would have given him that second chance. Lindy should have stuck to his schedule and then we wouldn't be second guess his decision making.

Once they become healthy and they keep playing like this, ruff is going to have to be let go.

When both your goalies play that bad, what do you do? Either try to switch them up or stick with them.

I like Ryan Miller and thinks he a very good goalie. He was at his best and motivated when he wanted to be the Team USA Olympic Starting goalie. That year he was solid and won the Vezina. Now he looks just like every other Sabre playing uninspired hockey. I know this team has had injuries but you would think he would step it up and carry this team and instead he is just following the same path that everyone else is on. I'm just wondering if it's time to get rid of Lindy. I like Lindy alot but I think the players have had enough of him and his system crap.

Waaaaaaay to many times Miller lets 3 goals into the net in less then what 5-8 Mins in the 1st which completely destroys the teams confidence...

After that 1st goal I knew it was gonna be a long night...

Team needs change and at this point letting Ruff go doesn't seem so bad...

this isnt an "Millers a god" response:

There are times thought when one man simply cant do it alone. I'm sure he would love to put the team on his back and carry them until people get healthy but he is only one guy. To take it one step further, with how he has pretty much carried the team the last several years he might have lost his "drive/hope/faith" in the team in front of him (cant say i blame him). He still tries to win the best he can but it gets hard working at a place where things never really get any better.

Ruff needs to go. Been saying it for years.

I don't like the "Miller carried the team" statements. Miller carried the team to what? Missed playoffs and early exits in the the recent years. He had one outstanding season when he truly carried the team. The last few seasons he has been a mediocre goaltender, he wasn't awful but not great.

I'm worried because right now the scouting report on our goalies is easy. Shoot high and in Miller's case shoot high glove side.

Couldn't agree more like I said Miller was motivated that year to be the team usa starting goalie and after the olympic's his game started to head back right where it was for quite some time. Not saying I don't like Miller but I think he needs to work much harded everyday to be that elite goalie.

Even Enroth's book is written. 5 hole.

whats troubling to me is how miller works hard and works extra to work out the kinks, but everyone is beside themselves with miller saying "i guess pegula wants better goaltending." and thinking miller is a huge problem. meanwhile, he knows hes bad and puts in extra time. but wheres enroth working extra time? the goalie who lost 7 of his last 8 starts? wheres the questions about him?

The injuries don't help this situation but the expectations of this team were pretty high to start the season and it's been disappointing to the fans, media and themselves. I think the only offseason pickup that was good was Regher from Calgary. Leino to me has been a bust so far. I like him but his play with the puck is very disturbing as he holds onto way too long. I guess Briere and Hartnell really got the best out of him. Ehrhoff has been good at times and really bad at times. I still think his point production was a big benefit by playing with the Sedins and Kesler. I guess only time will tell.

Let's turn this on its head. Somebody posted about Enroth's band a little while ago right? Plus, if my memory serves me, Miller plays (guitar? drums?) in a band with Roy and Stafford from their Rochester days. So, yes, we have musical goalies, and that fucking rocks!! :character-beavisbutthead:
