This Back to Back with the Leafs and Road trip in January will tell the tale of what happens to this team if a major shakeup should happen or if they have any hope at making the playoffs. Should be interesting to see if the downfall continue's or if they actually pull their heads out of their asses and start to play the full 60. |

Too late for a shake up IMO plus a certain person will refuse to do it. |

Honestly, I don't get everyone out there clamoring for a shake-up right now... Yeah, they've been proven to be the worse team on more nights than not, but how many players can one team actually move in or out before the trade deadline? Does anyone think limited action of that sort will transform this team into a top level contender? I don't, so I don't really get the urgency. As far as the next 2 against the Leafs...I just said the same thing earlier today to someone...this week has the ingredients to either be huge or devastating for the Sabres. |

So in the world of a league salary cap, how long do people think it should reasonably take to "buy" a championship? Is that even a possibility any longer? Because that's basically the mindset I think most Sabres fans had when this season started. ...then they found out our dependable guys, weren't ...and Miller, when not injured, has become accustomed to defecating on the ice. etc. |

You look at our talent top to bottom it rivals that of many of the cup contenders. 4-6 real solid Forwards, 3-4 solid defenders, and a pair of good goalies. Talent is there, it's getting the talent to execute. I'm not blaming this entire season on Lindy, but to me, he talks too much about a system, and not adapting to the players he has. He wants them to adapt to a system. That's just not gonna work anymore. Vanek, Pomminville, Reghier, Myers (most of the time) Leopold and Luke Adam have proven they are the only guys who can be consistent in this system. Everyone else is limited by it. I'm sorry but those 7 guys can't eat up 50 minutes of ice time, stop juggling the damn lines, and give these guys the option of playing to their strengths, rather than his idea of what hockey should be. You put guys like Roy, Stafford, Leino, etc on other teams, and I promise you they excell in an offensive first system. I.E. Pittsburgh, SJ, LA, etc. You either have to adjust to them or move them, and they don't seem to be doing either. I think thats where the frustration lies for most fans. I understand the cap situation, but there are teams out there willing to take on salary, if the right pieces are involved. |

And to follow up, I'll say I'm very disappointed and depressed by what I see on the ice right now. I get the outrage I read here. I get many of the arguments for change on and off the ice. But what I don't get is how the season is already over. Before you ask me if I honestly see this team competing for a Stanley Cup right now, I'll tell you no, I don't RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW, I see the Bruins winning the Cup. But I can't tell you how many times I've thought that about a team midseason and turned out wrong. How'd you all feel about the Bills midseason? Were you right about how it would go? I can tell you from reading the Bills thread the answers are good and no. All I'm saying is we're definitely seeing a Sabres team playing way under potential right now, for whatever reason: Lindy, injuries, lack of talent. But that's what I see now, and they aren't out of it yet. |

But all 3 won't happen (if it does THANK YOU GOD), the most ideal move I can think of is to fire Lindy. Guys been a warrior through thick and thin but he's worn out and it's time for something new on the ice. |

The players who have played the worse on this team have been on the team the longest (with the exception of Vanek and Pominville). They have played Lindy's system their whole careers. They should know it like the back of their hands. I understand a player not being able to score for a long period or a goalie having a shitty season. it happens to the best but for your top goalie and the majority of your top players being "bit" there is an issue somewhere. The Sabres are on track to score around 200 goals this season, that is the least amount of goals for since the lockout. They are also on pace for about 240 goals against which would be the highest number since the lockout. My idea of a shake up isn't necessarily trading a bunch of players away but to possible changing things above them. I have been leary of Lindy for several seasons now and this season has really cemented it for me. I believe he is the broken cog in this machine but time will tell. hell I would love to see what the current set of players could do under a new coach. It would be interesting to watch, to say the least. Stuuuuuuu wrote: And to follow up, I'll say I'm very disappointed and depressed by what I see on the ice right now. I get the outrage I read here. I would be more optimistic if they are showing signs but just because we lost in overtime isn't an optimistic sign. Win two or three games in a row by more than a point or two, then i may start looking up. You should of heard me in my office here in Va. Everyone kept on talking to me about how well Bills were doing and I always said that I was happy that they are doing well but it will be only a matter of time before it changes.... |

Anyone who thinks this team has no talent is wrong. We've seen players on this team play much better. Lindy is most likely the problem, IMHO. His system is stale, his coaching has gotten old to the team. This is just what I think though. |

Blue and Yellow we can all agree that this team has talent but it's definetly not playing to it's full potential and it's frustrating as hell watching this team with lack of effort and character. It was plain to see when Lucic destroyed Miller what character this team has. Then the whole media got envolved and they were mocked but almost every media outlet that they didn't do anything after Lucic hit Miller. Yes we know Lindy is probably most to blame about what's been happening but I wouldn't let Regier off either. People can say his hands were tied and that he couldn't do this and couldn't do that but he has overspent on way too many of his so called core players. Yes he has made some smart moves but people need to remember that we have Brian Burke in our division and he's going to make whatever trades are necessary in order to improve his team. He's not done and they will be getting better and you can quote me on that. Darcy needs to cut the dead weight from this roster and retool in order to keep up with Boston and Toronto and if he can't then he needs to be shown the door. |
