So Mathieu Darche (big surprise) complained to the media that Gaustad brought up the Chara incident as trash talk after the Sabres 3-1 win in Montreal last night

---The three-point night wasn't what had the Canadiens cursing Gaustad, however. He had a verbal battle with Montreal's Max Pacioretty following Kaleta's goal, and the Habs said Gaustad taunted Pacioretty by bringing up Zdeno Chara. The Boston captain broke Pacioretty's neck on a hit in Montreal.

"I don't think it was right to talk about a guy that had an incident that broke his neck," Montreal forward Mathieu Darche said. "It was classless. They were arguing, and he said, 'Where's Chara? Where's Chara?' You know that's what he implies."

Said Montreal's Erik Cole: "I didn't hear it, but I know a lot of guys from our bench were asking him where he was when [Milan] Lucic ran [Ryan] Miller."----

Seems like Darche still has some hard feelings for the Sabres for not giving him a chance. And you have to love Cole's comments.

I like Gaustad comments more then anything. It tries proves that Max P stil hasn't learnt anything when Chara accidentally tried to separate his head from his body.

What? What was he supposed to learn? And why is that something worth saying by Goose? I dont get it.

If they want to talk shit and that's the new attitude of this team, I'm 100-loving-percent behind it. Every team that is consistently good (and that we consistently hate) has an attitude of "fucillo you all, and your feelings. We're here to play hockey and win."

Get gritty and play balls to the wall.

 Couldn't agree more!

Imagine though if it were Kaleta chirping this at Pacioretty, think he'd have a call from Shanaban this afternoon?

Let's ask Kris Letang to weigh in on this one; shall we?

Not that It comes as a surprise, but the twats at WGR AM show (Howard Simon) was saying he hated trash talking. I for one think it's what the Sabres need. They also need the balls to go hit the fuck out of the bruins when they play them next.

Bodies flying. If no one bleeds during that game I will be upset.

My thoughts last night on this were that if there's any team that's in a sorrier situation than the Sabres at the moment, it's the Canadiens.

Apparently the Canadiennes' bench started it by bringing up Lucic... and now Gaustad is considered scum for returning it?

As long as we are willing to take the inevitable lumps, I say go for it boys.

What makes you think the canadiens started it? From my read it sounded more like Goose started it.

Per Puck Daddy:

According to The Gazette, the Montreal bench got its own shots in on Gaustad:
The Canadiens got in a few verbal barbs of their own when they asked why Gaustad didn't stand up earlier this year when Boston's Milan Lucic ran over Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller.

We're sure the language was a little more colorful than that. Gaustad's version of the events, via the AP:
Gaustad was singled out among Sabres players on the ice at the time for not coming to Miller's defense. "They asked me where Lucic was and I asked them where they were with (Zdeno) Chara, so it's the same thing," Gaustad said.

Personally, I love it. It's about time this team started playing with some swagger.

Only one game. Right now its an anomaly, not swagger.

I know. Doesn't matter. It's the first time this season they've played with swag. I didn't mean it was going to continue.

Problem is, that kind of attitude will only get them anywhere against Montreal and maybe two other teams that are as small and non-physical as the Sabres.

At risk of sounding cranky, this win may simply be another moment where the team thinks they somehow figured things out, and go back to playing like shit and getting out hustled and out "physicalled" by most other teams.

I freely admit to hoping for a top level draft pick that nets a legit top quality center, so maybe the above is not a totally unbiased assesment...maybe.

I agree 1980, that until they do this with consistency and stand up to the "bigger teams", this really is just a glimmer of hope. I'm still going to hold on to it though.

And if they actually play that way consistently, they really should have a few bigger bodies that can handle when talk comes to push/shove/fight.
