BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 Sports' Paul Peck reports that Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff was helped off the ice by trainers at practice, Monday.

Sabres Defenseman Jordan Leopold got knocked down during practice and slid into Ruff’s legs, hitting him from behind.

Ruff was down on the ice for at least one minute. It appears he may have hurt his ribs. The Sabres say they will update his condition later Monday.

Ruff did not do the normal post-practice media briefing because of this injury.

Holy crap! I guess no one is free from the injury bug. From what Harrington reported on TBN, his scream was heard throughout the whole arena. Hope it is nothing too serious.

A buddy of mine just sent me a text asking if we will be calling up the Amerks coach.... :S

Although it sucks that it happened, I'm glad it was only his ribs. That could have either been a broken leg, hip or worse yet, he could have cracked his skull on the ice.

Lindy got lucky.
