I'll be THAT guy here..

With all of the gossip about Lindy as of late, IF the team finally wakes up and decides a new voice is needed behind the bench, would ya'll be willing to bring him up as fulltime coach, keeping McKee and Patrick on as coaches?

Pulling at strings, but really. If We’ve seen the end of Lindy, would you do it?

Not yet, but I think he's a good coach, who's going to be great, at least at developing youth. No idea how he'd do on the big stage. That's a whole new ball of wax.

Sadly, I think it is time for him to move on from here. That being said, with him being as good of a coach as he is, he will get hired instantly somewhere else.

I honestly don't know that much about coaches around the league. That being said, I just watched the close out vids on sabres.com and these guys have heart man. I could read it in their eyes. They were trying to be professional and they would never say it but I would think they really want Ruff gone. He's been the coach since I was in highschool. Now I am in my thirties and have three kids. I can't say who would do well but I think the personality change would be a huge boost for this club.

This season was so disappointing because most of us felt the team looked pretty good on paper. That's pretty much the end of Regier's responsibilities. Of course he's going to monitor the team and be ready for further moves (which he completed very nicely at the trade deadline). Otherwise, it's all on Ruff to have the team prepared and motivated. Yes, the players have to motivate themselves, I'm all about self-responsibility in life and in sports. When that isn't happening at a satisfactory level, the coach needs to get them in gear.

We had optimism based on the roster that was put together. The roster failed in part from bad luck, certain players (not sure exactly who, but there had to be a few) that didn't give 100%, and a coach that failed to get the best out of them. I'd love to see what a different coach could do, but it's no surprise that Ruff (and Regier) will be back. Unfortunately, if Ruff is a significant part of the problem or much of the roster is tired of him, I can't imagine the team returning with a very positive outlook. If injuries were a much bigger factor than Ruff, then the team may very well be ready to give a full effort for a full season (and hope they stay healthy, because there isn't enough talent to make up for bad luck).

I'm really not mad about this, but I will be if there aren't some roster changes. I'd rather wallow in misery than hope the same roster is going to get us a cup any time soon. He did say they will continue to be aggressive with the roster, and that at least gives us hope.

I can agree with this. Since the coach won't change, it kind of means that by default that they will try and change up the roster. We lack size, grit and a high end center. Would love at least two of those to be addressed if the options are out there.

Well in all fairness, Ruff is a "legendary" coach, and if, and when he does win a Stanley Cup, will be a first ballot hall of fame coach. The minute you let the inmates run the asylum you get a situation much like they had in Washington early on in the year. "Let us do it our way, or we'll throw you under the bus, and move on to the next guy. I think it's time to move players instead coaches. Keep in mind, Ruff has had this team to the ECF 4 times, and was literally a bone head penalty away from his second Cup finals appearance. (and probably first cup...thanks Brian Campbell) I'm not saying he's perfect, but in all fairness, Derek Roy and Drew Stafford haven't exactly put this team on their shoulders and carried them to those appearances. Ruff has done it with very different rosters, and twice post lock out. I don't think it's necessarily him, but some of these guys have decided they don't like him. Simple solution, move out the guys who can't play for him, bring in players who can, and see what you get. If you still cant win, then move Coaches/GMs. Remember the players play the game, the coach can only hope to put in the right game plan, and execute it. Aside from managing goal tenders, I can't really think of an instance where Ruff has completely mismanaged a game.

Lindy's a good coach but you can't put a label like LEGENDARY on him. The guy hasn't won the cup. A coach you can call Legendary is someone like Mike Babcock. Lindy's a good coach but he's no legendary status IMO.

He's gone to ECF post lockout twice but did you see the teams we had? our 3rd line was scoring more than peoples 1st lines. One of those ECF appearances we shit the bed vs the Sens and didn't even show up.

Yup and I agree with the mismanaging of goaltenders. He did it again this year. You can't bring a backup in after sitting him 20 games and expect a win. Ruff should have been shown the door or just have mutually parted ways. A coach that I think that could turn this team around is Mark Crawford. But that is my opinion anyway.
