By domain, I mean the faceoff circle. :)

139 faceoffs
69.1% faceoff win percentage.

Disgusting.

Once you filter out of the schmucks who have taken only a few faceoffs, he's second in the league. He's only behind Konopka from Tampa Bay, but Konopka has taken fewer than half as many faceoffs as the Goose. If you compare him to folks that have taken similar numbers of faceoffs, he's far and away #1.

HONK HONK!!

Notice how the power play the Devils scored on was the one that Goose was in the box for.

Largely because he wasn't out there to win those faceoffs.

So Ferret can stop bitching about Gaustad being overpaid then :)

I never bitched about it, but last year I thought he was a lil overpaid too.. I thought he was worth more like $1.5 mill a year because I thought his effort was inconsistant, and it wasn't there when the team went through those bad stretches last year..

But this year, he hasn't taken a shift off, and I have a good feeling that's going to continue.. He's more passionate than ever and he's one of the many great guys that's making this team a fun team to play on.. Not overpaid at all..

Just because he is a 4th liner, he seemed to forget Paul's faceoff skills especially taking the important draws.

4th line, 1st line... none of it means shit.

Last night, our "4th line" just happened to give us the breathing room we needed to put New Jersey out of the game.

We don't have a '4th line.' We don't have a '1st line.'

We have our Top 4 lines.

With his size, work ethic, and attitude, it would be hard to bet against the Goose developing into a more, and more valuable player. Absolutely killing them in the faceoffs - nice stat work Squanto!

The Goose was honking in on that one!!! Quote from Versus announcers last year against the Red Wings (we all know how that game went though. :( )

only the greatest show ever!!

Id love to see paul get more minutes as a third liner. playing with increased skill, more minutes.. guy could consistantly hit 15 goals a year.

Doesn't need to. He'll net 15 as a 4th liner this year.

Also, back on topic...who is leading the NHL in faceoff winning percentage among players with over 100 draws taken? Paul fuckin' Gaustad at 69.2%, including 14 shorthanded wins and only 4 shorthanded losses. TADOW!

I mention this two days ago, and it gets NO play ;)

He has vastly improved on all skill levels over his short career. This was a great find for Buffalo. I think he could go to 20+ goals this season. Kaleta, Ellis and Goose have found that perfect mix of toughness in the checking dept. but I have to confess, I am shocked that these 3 are actually gelling to score some goals and add to their threat capacity. This forces other teams to try and find an answer for this line.
Just another reason to smile today and think about the game tonight.

Question!
How many points will this line score tonight against the laffs? I say this line will put up 7 points tonight, 2 goals/5 assists.
Anyone else care to throw some numbers out there?
