Tyler Ennis landed in Philadelphia at 5:05 as he will play his first NHL game tonight. Drew Stafford is out with a hip flexor. Lindy Ruff hasn't made a final decision, but he's thinking of moving Tim Connolly to wing. Ennis had two assists in Portland's 6-3 win over Rochester in Buffalo on Thursday. Overall he has six goals and seven assists in 16 games. Ennis was taken in the first round of the 2008 draft which is the same year Tyler Myers was taken. He was 26th overall and just turned 20 years old.

Ennis is a center right?

You think having Vanek, Roy, and Connolly on first line and then having MacArthur, Ennis, Pominville for second line would be a good idea?

Or Ennis on the first line?

Interesting, How does Lindy play his game plan now? I wonder if Ennis will see substantial ice time tonight.

Says hip flexor, not sure how he injured it, but they are common with running and skating and such.

Could have just strained them, which is actually what a Hip flexor is. Straining the muscles to pull the knee upwards.

Here's a couple of questions I have, not just for Crosscheck and Skyline, but everyone.

If Ennis proves himself this game through gameplay and/or goals/points, do we keep him up or send him back down?

If he were to stay up, does the 9 game rule apply to him as it did Myers?

And if he does really well, would it be Stafford that sits, or Miar?

Ennis is already on his entry level contract because he is 20 and is playing in Portland so his pro-contract as already kicked in.

That whole 9 game rule only applies to players who can go back and play in juniors, anyone who is 18 or 19 that applies to.

Evander Kane was in the same boat this year also as Myers. Since he recently turned 18, he was either going to play in the NHL, or go back to his junior team.

If Ennis does really well. I would assume Kennedy would go back down, but since he made it out of training camp and Ennis didn't. Ennis goes back down regardless of his play when Stafford comes back.

I don't expect Ennis to have a 6 goal game tonight. I just hope for solid play in his own end and maybe helping some offensive chances also.

Thanks Skyline.

What about the question on him staying in Buf? I think he is a center isn't he?

Gerbe is out with an injury. they won't discuss the exact details but i think i heard somewhere it was a concussion related injury, which is why he did not play against the amerks. they started conolly and roy on the same line and it was not producing one reason they had the roy vanek stafford line. i say throw macArthur or kaleta with vanek and connolly. keep roy with pominville, and say macArthur. then start Ennis in between hecht and Kennedy. Kennedy definitely needs someone who can score to pass to. though i did like kaleta on that line. keep the fourth line of mair, ellis, gaustad together. ennis can score, and assist he needs to be with other scorers. and i wouldn't mess with moving him like they did with gerbe.

Turns out this was a good call up. 1st game, 1st goal and the kid showed promise in a big game.
Wow, he contributes, I say keep him up and see how he plays for 5 or 10 games.

He has great control with the puck, It was cool to see him play with Connolly and Vanek for some time in the game.

Good goal too, how he held onto that puck was unreal.

I will be watching the replay of the game in a little while, but I see he scored from Kennedy and Kaleta...that sounds like one dangerous line.

Kaleta ended up breaking up a very dangerous play. It was a 3-on-2 or something and he was at the goal about two steps behind the play, sped up and knocked the puck off of a Flyers' stick and stopped a very good chance the Flyers could have had. He hustled to get back.

Kennedy, Kaleta, and Hecht had some great chances, and when Ennis played with them they had even more chances. Kaleta almost got a goal tonight also.

MacArthur had plenty of shots and great chances tonight.

He was the reason Vanek got his goal. Quick, hard pass through two guys onto Vanek's stick.

If he stays up and turns in performances like tonight, it could convince me to cool down on the trade rants.
(Although, Hecht, Tallinder, Lydman and Pommers would still be on my radar :snooty: )

I am very proud of this team, they are finding ways to win, and they are doing it with multiple scorers in every game. I love the fact we are winning. Miller is a beast. The defense is playing within their means.
I can see this team is almost ready. Like I said, outside of 1 or 2 changes, this team is just about there.

Good job tonight Mr. Ennis and welcome to the NHL. You did one hell of a job tonight.

stafford's injury probably resulted because he tried to stay on side. they said it was hip related. wouldn't doubt he pulled his groin.
