This kid's career with the Sabres is fucked. Lindy Ruff has benched him twice (I think) so far. Why would we keep him up in the NHL if we're going to play him on the fourth line and bench him? Does Lindy Ruff even fucking know the most basic coaching tactics? |

Seguin was a top pick. Like, No. 1. He's supposed to be elite. Comparing Seguin to Grigorenko is sort of moot, especially since sending Grigs back to the Q would send the same exact message without fucking with him. |

I have no problem with Grigorenko sitting especially with the condensed schedule. The minors wouldn't have helped him either but we would have saved a year on his entry level contract. |

Sending him back to the Q would have (imo) sent the message of "We don't see it in you, maybe next year", whereas I think keeping him up here as a healthy scratch sends more a message of "We do see it in you, but you need to learn more". And that might be an important distinction for a young guy trying to find his place. Keep him here, get him used to the NHL culture, speed, locker-room, etc etc. I've heard guys say more than once how their mentality or view of the game has shifted while watching as a healthy scratch, it might be good for the kid. |

If there is a good time to do this it is now. At this point I want to watch competitive hockey but I have given up on any thoughts of a serious run into the postseason unless they really get stuff cranking here soon. I think he should just be put up with 3rd liners. There was some line jockying and I think he was seeing some 3rd line type looks the past couple games. I really think they are trying to keep the kid rested going into the rest of the season. He is just getting used to the speed and type of skill the NHL requires night in, and night out. I couldn't even imagine the type of physical strain being his age, in the NHL as a rookie, and playing anywhere from 2-4 games a week over the condensed schedule. I really think we are reading way to much into the benching of the kid. That is not to say that it can't be a learning experience for him either. He can probably take a lot out of watching how people playing in similar positions go about their gameplay. Correct me if I am wrong but I think we did something similar with T.Van when he first came up. |

The kid is 18, right? Lindy's just trying not to blow him up. Relax. |
