He recently published a book on hockey analytic. Very interesting interview with Matthew Coller. http://audio.wgr550.com/a/79011030/8-3-rob-vollman-talks-hockey-statistics-with-matthew-coller.htm highlights: - there are limitations to any statistics. No single statistic is full proof - Sabres are projected to be second last next season - He applauded the Sabres for trying to make moves, in the past few seasons, in an effort to improve. Although they were the wrong moves - Lindy has been an "ok" coach. Didn't hurt the Sabres but really didn't help them either - The safest and under-valued way for the Sabres to build a successful team is to acquire possession based players - Statically, Miller is an above average goalie but not a top ten |

Those are all pretty accurate statements, but on stats, certain stats tell the story better than others, but no stat will ever tell the whole story... by itself. |
