Right now we stand at the top of division (did you guys forget that?) and we have a hard week this week but i don't think I
know this isn't the same team as last year. We have Myers who you can tell is hungry and a Nhler out of the gate, we have
Connolly who has been playing well and finally is there to quarterback our powerplay throughout the beginning of the season.
Roy is turning up the goal scoring and Vanek is a fucking dump truck in front of the net. This isn't the old team, we just have been sick.. and had a few hiccups. Oh yeah another thing we have that we didn't last year was.. thee all mighty himself Mike Grier. So I'm ok with you guys throwing up in your sleep over a bad sabres dream because its not going to last long. Sorry about that last part reading that now is pretty gross but im going to leave it.

So regarding the Sabres . . .

Even the 76-77 version of the almighty Canadiens lost a few games on their way to 60-8-12 and The Cup.

Although we expect to win every game, it's not gonna happen, and judging effort level is tricky. I wonder if only a coach might be able to determine that (and yet I remember coaches riding guys who were already busting their asses).

Sometimes the best teams look lost or tired or simply get outplayed. I have to remind myself that the other team has players who get paid to win too.

Therefore, I'm with Bauter - cautiously, quietly confident.

I honestly think that this team is better than last year's edition, just as last year's was better than 07-08, and will finish 1-5 in the East. Last year I had them pegged 6-8, and they would have finished there were it not for Miller's injury *crosses fingers*. I'm fine with both relentless negativity and incessant optimism.
