This from the Buffalo news:

"Meanwhile, it appears left wing Clarke MacArthur will escape further penalty for his boarding major against the Oilers' Liam Reddox. Neither MacArthur nor Ruff received a call from the NHL this morning regarding the hit, so a fine or suspension is unlikely.

"I don't even feel like I leaned on him that hard," MacArthur said. "He just went in so quick.""

Good news. I don't think it deserved a suspension.

Was worthy of the major penalty. Not sure about the misconduct, and definitely not a suspension.

Glad Reddox wasn't seriously hurt.

I really don't think Clarke meant to do it. If he had, why would he have been so quick to see if Reddox was okay.

BS, you know as well as I do that the NHL sometimes doesn't look at intent as much as actions. I wholeheartedly believe that Reddox contributed to the boards as much as Clarke contributed. That may have be a mitigating factor for the NHL.

Good deal, I thought Clarke would get 3 games since he was booted from the game

I might be wrong on this but it was always my understanding that the game misconduct is automatic with a major for boarding.

I don't think so really. I thought a game misconduct was only issued on fighting and the instigator rule under 5 minutes left.

I heard them mention it when I was watching the Blues/Preds game tonight when Backes got a boarding major. Anyways I found it in the NHL rulebook (the wonders of google).

link:http://www.nhl.com/rules/rule44.html

Quote:
#b. When a major penalty is imposed under this Rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed.

Thanks for that info.

So any major with head or face injuries is a game.
