Okay, let's have a thread dedicated to our-up-to-the-minute forward lines as we would have them, understanding, of course, that we are stuck with Anne Hecht in the lineup no matter how worthless she may be on account of that retarded $3.5 million contract. Assuming Stafford and Grier are still out: 1. Vanek-Connolly- Anne Hecht Comment: Let's hide Anne here, because Vanek and Connolly can still make things happen as she pointlessly floats around not bothering anybody. 2. MacArthur-Roy-Pominville Comment: I really like the way these guys are playing together. 3. Ennis-Kennedy-Kaleta Comment: The B-Lo line! My favorite line on the team, and one that I hope will remain intact for the next 10 years. 4. Ellis-Gaustad-Mair Comment: I replace Mair with Grier when he's ready to return. Summary: Unfortunately, as soon as Stafford returns we say goodbye to Ennis and plop Anne back down to the B-Lo line. We're on the hook for at least two more years of her before we can make any changes, so we just have to accept her 9 goal/20 points worth of soft hockey until then. |

You corrected your Ellis before I could catch you on it. I agree with all of the above. It'll be interesting, however, to see what Ruff does if Ennis keeps scoring once Stafford gets healthy. I have a feeling that we'll see more out of Drew when he does come back because of that pressure Ennis has put on him. If not, however... I am VERY curious to see how Darcy and Lindy handle it. |

Good points ETC. I too am very curious to see how Lindy and the Shadow (formerly known as Darcy Reiger) handle things. I think Stafford will return by Wed. game, but I am not sure when we will know this. If Stafford returns but Grier does not, I would think they would sit Mair and keep Ennis up, correct? |

If I were Lindy Ruff, I'd still sit Stafford... just for that one game. Let Ennis go out there and fly, and force Stafford to watch him as a healthy scratch. That should light a fire under his ass. |

No, I think Ennis will go back when Stafford returns, because the juggle to make room for both Stafford and Ennis in the lineup will be nearly impossible unless they put Hecht in the press box...and, as we all too painfully know, that is an impossibility. |

Problem -the Hecht-Kennedy-Kaleta line is fine. I like it a lot, except for Anne. But who's there to protect Patty and Timmy? Both stir up a lot of ****, and Anne won't be able to swing her purse hard enough to protect them. I'd rather put Grier on the 4th line, but he's kind of there to protect those guys. |

Connolly is pretty scrappy, but the first two lines are seriously wimpy right now. I sincerely hope you aren't worried that Kaleta needs protection...he certainly can take care of business. |

But if they have to take on all 5 of the opposing teams players....I don't know. I'd just be more comfortable having someone like Grier out there with them -I guess we wouldn't need to if Rivet or Montador was out on the ice. Maybe Kassian can fill that role in the future... |

Maybe Kassian can fill that role in the future... ????????????? This is never a factor in line make up. You don't see great lines with 3 skilled players on them breaking up to put a rougher player on the line. Spezza, Alfredson, Heatley, Although bigger players were not known for the scrapping ability. Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez definitely not the "protect each other" type. I really don't see how placing a goon on a skilled line makes any sense at all If they can't help elevate the production of the line. You have a checking line or 2 in lines 3 and 4, if they contribute, great. But if an opponent goes after your skilled players, do what Lindy does, send out the hit squad and take care of business. I mean, come on now, I love Goose and Kaleta as much as the next fan, but not on line 1 or 2, same for Grier and Mair. I would think with the way they played that game together, Kennedy, Ennis and Kaleta would do just fine. |

Kaleta is far more than scrappy, he's perhaps the league's hardest hitting forward and draws more penalties per minute than anyone else in the NHL. He can more than handle his business, even if he isn't an enforcer goon. No need to add a lumbering cop to a line with that much speed and energy...it would only reduce their offensive potency. See: Andrew Peters. |

I see Kassian playing RW to Kennedy and Ennis, that line would be fucking beast. |

slesh wrote: I see Kassian playing RW to Kennedy and Ennis, that line would be fucking beast. Not me...here's what I'd like to see next year (God willing we'll find a taker for Anne). Kassian should roll over Stafford on the depth chart eventually, but at the beginning paying his dues on the 4th line. That's a brutal wave of four strong lines that would just pummel and wear out almost everyone we face. Vanek-Connolly-Stafford/Kassian MacArthur-Roy-Pominville Ennis-Kennedy-Kaleta Ellis-Gaustad-Kassian/Stafford |

I really wish these were our lines for Wednesday: Vanek - Connolly - Stafford/Ennis MacArthur - Roy - Pominville Ennis - Kennedy - Kaleta Ellis - Goose - Hecht I really don't understand why they didn't scratch Mair and see what else Ennis has up his sleeve until Grier returns. |
