All we'd be doing is driving up his price with an offer sheet. San Jose is not gonna let him go, especially with their roster of underachievers in the playoffs, so a trade would not happen.

That's over $15M coming off the books for three players.

The only way I see the Sharks letting Pavelski come to Buffalo is if the Sabres trade Ryan Miller to SJ to replace Nabokov.

And we all know that is not going to happen.

I see Pavelski being given a whole bunch of Marleau's money and the Sharks let Marleau walk. Especially given that Pavelski has been CLUTCH in the playoffs (Pavelski leads all playoff goal scorers right now with 9 goals) and Marleau has been near invisible.

Here are the stat lines:

Pavelski - 8 games 9 g 14 pts +7 3 GWG
Marleau - 7 games 1 g 4 pts -2 0 GWG

I would be STUNNED if the Sharks don't have Pavelski signed to a big extension prior to July 1st.

yea i was just going to say that the sharks are going to dump marleau and use the money to pay pavelski. i could also see them looking goalie first round, as Nabokov is aging.

Didn't Dougie Wilson already say priority number one is to re-sign Marleau? And the end of the season they'll have something like 23 mill in cap space with 12 players to sign and that includes a goalie. Greiss isn't ready so Nabokov has to be re-signed. Both Setoguchi nad Pavelski are RFA's and both could get a wealthy offer sheet. They have a couple kids that can step in next year on cheap contracts but they will definitely be losing one of Pavelski, Marleau and Setoguch imo.
