I've already stated that I prefer to let Tallinder and Lydman walk, and to replace them with veteran talent that can produce on the PP. I assume that they won't accept much of a pay cut, but that will have to happen for either of them to stay. However, I would keep either or both if they stayed for around 1.7 each, as #4 or #5 d-men. I would still want to sign a player like Seidenberg or Foster with what's left of the cap room, leaving a d-corps like...

Weber-Myers
Lydman-Foster
Tallinder-Montador/Rivet
Sekera or Butler as the 7th man (trade one or both for a pick after Rivet returns)

I know the decision on each of them can't be made until other things pan out during the summer, but if it came down to re-signing either of them, what would you guys consider a fair price?

I could see the Sabres letting both go, since they already have 5 guys, bringing up weber and grags as 6 and 7 if Darcy and Lindy have confidence in them.

I can see it happening too, and that scares me. That d-corps seems very unproven and weaker than this years.

I'm looking forward to seeing Weber, but if both he and Gragnani replace Tallinder and Lydman with no other moves, I'll just cancel Center Ice right now.

How is Gragnani even looked at as good?

What does he make now, 3.25? I doubt he'll want to sign for much less than his current contract.

Throw Lydman something in the ballpark of $3.25-$3.5 million. It's a raise for him without breaking the bank on the cap. If he really wants to stay, he'd take it. I'd let Tallinder go, though. The guy has a bad tendency of not being good defensively
