Garth on Hockeybuzz said that with Horton breaking his leg, the Panthers desperately need a top 6 forward for the stretch run. I know the source, but Roy did play for the Panthers current coach with Kitchener, and apparently the Cats covet Roy. Ideas? |

what do the sabres get in return? cause, we are sorta in the mix too. and for the record, i dont believe eklund just makes shit up. plenty of talk is heard around the league, and he reports what he hears. most rumours dont go down anyways. but at the same time, hes not a source i take very seriously. |

He'll be back next year...Dvorak and Horton is actually a fair trade we aquire a rental through the rest of the year, and Horton beyond that |

no, he died dude. hes never coming back. ever! id rather have roy then dvorak for the stretch run. plus, you cant trade a player on the IR. so by the time hes healthy, and could move him, they wouldnt need roy. |

Reinprecht and Dvorak for Roy and a third??? Maybe a second? |

You can trade injured players in the NHL. Anyway, I'm just saying that's what it would take for us to give up Roy a long term and a short term solution |

Horton when he comes back the trade deadline will be over with most likely. But Horton is the leading scorer on the Florida team. I'd take him, as he would put up much better numbers playing on our team. |

horton has had some good years on a relatively crappy team. the injury does hurt him especially if you are looking at a trade today which i doubt darcy is. but i'd say horton or Frolik |

The only way a Roy for Horton deal works is if the Sabres are somehow convinced that Kennedy or Ennis are good enough for the stretch run or they have another deal in the hopper to replace Roy as the 2nd line center down the stretch. |

Our center situation is really weak, but if we can survive down the stretch without him somehow, I'd take Horton for Roy in a heartbeat. I think Gerbe or Ennis could possibly fill Roy's shoes, at least for a little while, if they (mainly Gerbe) learn to play with their skills rather than their size (or lack thereof). On the plus side, at least they probably won't lay on the ground after a breeze blows by and wait for the ref's to call a penalty... |

Stop thinking about scoring for a minute, and lets remember that Roy is a center who plays the defensive side of our system extremely well. You can't send a guy like that away without having a solid replacement. The way I see it, the Panthers have no one that could compensate for the other areas that Roy brings to the table. Not saying he isn't tradable... just not to Florida. |

Roy has a favorable contract and Buffalo doesn't have anyone ready to fill in at center. Obviously Kennedy is having some growing pains, so how could he be an option on the 2nd line? Trading Roy right now isn't reasonable unless it's part of a blockbuster. We all know Darcy doesn't get in on blockbusters so it's a useless discussion. Now MacArthur and a pick/prospect for Seidenberg or MacArthur for Kurt Foster would be a nice little deal if Florida or TB fall out of the playoff race. |
