Post subject:  If contracts were suddenly VOIDED

Everybody has ideas of who would be a great fit for this team and make it a prime contender. What prevents this from being reality is the variety of contracts teams and players have. In this thread, those contracts are null and void.

Keeping the Sabres system in mind, as well as the salary cap, what changes would you want to make if you had your pick of the entire NHL roster. You pick 'em, you get'em.

Build the perfect "Sabre system" style team.

(Can be as few as one or two changes if you think that's all that's needed)

Are we to assume that despite the contracts being voided, that the Sabres would pay the same value of the players current contract? Or would all contracts be subject to change?

Everybody starts at ZERO. (not good news for Connoly, Roy and perhaps even Vaenk---the Edmonton thing never happened)

You get 56.8 million. Win the cup.

So this is a game of how we pay the players then?

Also does it include what we think, if we add other players, make also?

Please explain it a bit better.

Dustin Brown and Mike Fisher and Kane (instead of connolly and stafford and pominville) in. Stempniak not Torres. ohh and an almost complete swap of D.

Vanek - Roy - Brown (true power forward)
Ennis - Fisher - Kane (real playmaker, home town kid. scoring threat)
Hecht -Gaustad - Stempniak (home town kid, add more scoring, adds a vet)
Grier - Ellis or McCormick - Kaleta
Kennedy substitute somewhere.

D
Myers - Doughty (offensive juggernaut with d skills)
Vlasic - Hedman (young solid middle line)
Volchenkov - Orpik (feared checking D line)

Goalie
Miller
Biron

Hecht would not make over 2.5
stempniak = 2.9
vanek = 6.0
Fisher and roy = 4.0
Kane - 6.4
Gaustad = 1.6
Grier = 1.2

descending contracts for the most part

I tried to keep a veteran presence to both d and forwards, while adding offensive prowless, and bang capability. As well guys that will compete.

On second thought...I misunderstood your question (it was late).

Yes, you have to abide by the players current contract value, even though the contract is voided.

So, we couldn't reduce the contract just a bit to make it better, because I would reduce like 4 of them .

I would want Ben Eager instead of Ellis
