Scott Cullen thinks the main priority should be acquiring some top four d-men, and then some depth forwards.

Cool, all they gotta do is this:

1. Trade Vanek+Gaustad+Ennis+2011 1st pick+2012(the world is gonna end anyways, right? fricken Mayans, can't invent clothes but they know when the world is gonna end!) 1st pick for Malkin

2. Sign Volchenkov to a 6 year 27 million dollar contract.

3. Sign or re-sign the bolded players below:

G-Miller 6.25
G-Raycroft .75

goalie hit: 7

D-Volchenkov 4.5 / Myers 1.3
D-Butler .85 / Montador 1.55
D-Sekera 1 / Rivet 3.5
D-McKee 1

defense hit: 13.7

F-Roy 4 / Malkin 8.7 / Stafford 1.9
F-Bertuzzi 2 / Connelly 4.5 / Pominville 5.3
F-Kennedy 1.8 / Hecht 3.525 / Grier 1.4
F-Begin 1 / Gerbe .85 / Kaleta 1.1
F-Mair 1
F-Ellis .75

forward hit: 37.825

total cap hit: 58.525

4. As soon as Kassian is ready he will replace Stafford.

That's really complicated, and very unlikely. Malkin and Volchenkov will be WAY out of Buffalo's range.

We need to sign a few d-men, whether that includes Tallinder/Lydman or not, that are top four quality. Up front I would consider trading for Patrick Sharp since he'll likely be on the market due to Chicago's cap situation. Marleau would be a very outside possibility if Grier has any pull, he'll sign for under market value, and Darcy can shed cap elsewhere.

My best case scenario is trading for Sharp, trading away Stafford, and signing Seidenberg and Foster on defense to replace Tallinder and Lydman. That would add one mil to the cap, but Darcy should be able to make it work.

Not to be insensitive to his plight, but Foster probably won't be the same after the death of his daughter. I wouldn't take the chance on him. Look at Curtis Brown and what happened to him.

If our top line is Roy, Malkin, and Stafford, I'll kill myself.

Malkin will make it rain in there, he'll turn water into wine. He won the fricken Smythe with Fedotenko and Talbot. He'll win MVP with those guys.

Not to mention Malkin and Myers working the points BAM!!!! BABY!!!
