Post subject:  Steals from Edmonton?
The Oilers are in a HUGE rebuilding state and i think we might be able to take some valuable players right out of Edmonton and put them in the Blue & Gold. Here's what I was thinking:

Sam Gagner- 1.625
Andrew Cogliano- 1.133

Both are good goal scorers, both have great hands and are fast.

Gagner- 68GP 15G 26A 41P
Cogliano- 82GP 10G 18A 28P

Yes, I know that these numbers are absolutely terrible but were talking on a team who was dead last in the NHL and a team that only won 27 games. I think these two need a change of scenery and would do great on the Sabres.
Thoughts?

They're RFAs, so Edmonton can match, and they will since they'll have the cap room and won't let go two of the best young players that they want to keep. Aside from trying to piss off Kevin Lowe out of revenge for the Vanek offer sheet, there's no logic to it.

Gagner isn't going anywhere, although Cogs could probably be pryed away. Although I don't know what his deal is.

I can't see the Sabres signing guys to RFA Offer Sheets after the way they reacted to the Vanek offer sheet from the Oilers.

Plus, I'd rather go after a guy like Dustin Penner than the smaller guys in Edmonton that have similiar skill sets to what the Sabres already have.

I happen to know Travis Zajac and he works out in the summer with Penner and one other person. He said Penner doesn't train hard at all and generally doesn't give a shit. He already has his cup and then got a fat contract so he puts in very little effort. Ever since he told me that I haven't wanted Penner. Even though I like what he can bring to the table.
