How about it? He`s in for a rebound season this year after scoring only 14 goals last year (had 43 goals in 07-08 and 33 goals in 08-09). As a plus he has played every game for the past three seasons. He`s not a true number one RW and he`s $4 million per season but that could be evened out slightly through moving Stafford and Sekera or Butler.

What are we gonna do with that 4 mil? It's not like he's signed for another 10 years. We'd only have him for two seasons, then we'd be done with the contract. Plus, the players we would trade for him would basically be a wash money wise. I'd be totally fine with dealing Stafford+Sekera for him.

I'd swap Stafford for Boyes.

One Fighting Sioux for another, eh? I like Brad Boyes and I'd hope last season was a fluke. I wouldn't be opposed to it but the Sabres are already over their internal budget, so it ain't happening.

We would have to do Stafford/Sekera/2nd for Boyes.

Wait, you're worried about spending $4 million on a guy who should be a consistent 30 goal scorer, and maybe more if he has the right players around him? Seriously? He does have flaws to his game, but is a legit goal scorer in the NHL. There was a reason why Danny Briere was let go from Phoenix as well, they knew he could score but didn't feel that over weighed the minuses. How did that turn out?

Stafford, Sekera and a pick for Boyes would be a steal for us.

Why?

Boyes is a $4M per year guy that is coming off a bad year.

I would only be interested if the Blues wanted to move him to clear out some budget space to make other moves.

There is no guarantee that he'll bounce back. I'd roll the dice. But, I wouldn't give up two roster players a pick for him.

STAFFORD AND SEKERA ARE NOT TRADE BAIT. NOBODY WANTS THEM. WE THINK WE CAN TRADE TRASH FOR SOMETHING BETTER THAN TRASH.

After last year, some might call Boyes trash. Especially at $4M per.

Stafford and Boyes each had 14 goals last season. And Stafford did it for less than half the cost of Boyes.

But look at their both history, Boyes before that had 2 seasons of 43 and 33 goals each.

It's a risk/reward discussion.

Boyes could be viewed as a guy with a bigger risk & reward as he costs $4M for not much production if he doesn't bounce back.

Stafford has the much lower risk for a bang for buck POV.

It all depends on what a team wants.

If a team values the lower cost risk, then Stafford could be of equal value.
