This is just another way to toss roster ideas around. Here's the line-up with parenthesis around the players I want replaced. Copy and paste with your own ideas if you want, with a new player that's possible to acquire in the next five months. Vanek-Roy-Stafford Ennis-(Connolly/Richards)-(Pominville/???) (Hecht/???)-(Niedermayer/Adam)-(Grier/Kassian) McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta Gerbe-Foligno or Byron or Mancari (Sekera/Ehrhoff)-Myers Leopold-Montador Morrisonn-Weber (Butler/Greene)-(Rivet/Wisniewski) Miller-(Lalime/Enroth) At this point I really don't care what they get in return for Hecht, Connolly, Pominville, or Rivet. That's almost 17 mil in cap space for 32 goals and 54 assists. 17 mil in cap room is worth it even if they only get a few 2nd rd picks for those players. |

I have no idea obviously who we should acquire, but Connolly, Grier, Rivet, Butler, Hecht and Neidermayer all need to be gone (original ideas I know). I'm not so sure we should give up on Sekera though. I would love to see Adam and Kassian on the team next year. We need their size, and especially Kassian's grit. EDIT: I know there won't be one available to us, but if we can somehow get a legitimate #1 center, and move Roy to the 2nd line, our team would become much, much better. |

I would throw the farm at Richards and see what happens. There are no other answers at the center position. If the other big contract/little production players are dealt for any trash at all, there would still be room to acquire a few good players and fill the other holes with prospects that at least have some amount of promise. |

I don't see why Dallas wouldn't resign him before he hits free agency. Although, I have no idea of their cap situation or anything like that. But yes, if we have a chance at him, we have to throw money at him. |

I think there are four categories of holes: Players past their prime, simply ineffective Grier Niedermayer Rivet Lalime Players that just aren't good enough Connolly Gerbe Butler Players with bad contracts Pominville Hecht Gaustad Players who are good enough to return, but inconsistent enough to let walk depending upon the cost Stafford Sekera That is a lot of Roster dead weight and we don't have enough talent/good contracts to be able to hide it. |

Yep, we are going to have to find some talent, buy some people out, possibly, but im not sure if it can be all done in one trade deadline / off season.... Im not sure if by simply adding ZAK and Adam, coupled with free agency, you can fix all the holes. |

Spending money they don't have on Richards is a bad idea. |

That first list is not just centers. After Richards there isn't one UFA center worth a damn for the long term. FWIW, the wingers worth consideration are Fleischmann, Laich, Larose, and Higgins. That's not a whole lot of options. |

I gotta agree FA C... is crap, but Id say we are EXTREMELY weak down the middle... Adam maybe able to pull 3rd line C .... Goose/Cody could fight for 4th line... Roy i still see as a Second line guy... so we need that top line C... Richards Weiss - boarder line 1/2 C Malkin - if healthy, when healthy, would/could be a gamble, but one I'd take... |

BUT, we need a goalie that can play 20-30... and keep the $6 million dollar man sharp, so we may need to spend the $2 mill to do that... I have no problem with the thinking... |

That's why you shouldn't copy and paste a wall of text without double checking the info. Look up half the guys on that center list and you'll see they play LW. Agree about Anderson. Enroth has done well enough that we don't need to consider any other back-up. |

Either way they aren't legit #1 centers regardless of their natural position. As for Ehrhoff, he isn't a top four d-man...he's a TOP d-man and great PP guy. Of course that's playing with the Sedin point machines, but he's still a great d-man and a guy I've mentioned before with Andy Greene and James Wisniewski. |
