This is a little late, but does anyone think it's possible we might pick up Souray for a relatively low price ($2.7 million) by 12 PM today? If not, after he's bought out, do you think there's a chance that might try to sign him by the deadline? |

I suppose, but I think he'd be a good powerplay quarterback and would add more of a scoring punch to our defense. |

Bleh, I'm just poking up some ideas. It pisses me off to no end that Darcy will more than likely do absolutely nothing until the last minute of the trade deadline. |

Souray cleared. A couple of talking heads said there was no way he'd get snagged given the scouting reports of his play in the AHL. |

i say get him. why? in NHL 2006, i needed some deadline help with my push towards the playoffs. i picked him up, and i won the stanley cup. if it happens in NHL 2006, itll happen in real life. no wait, it was bryan mccabe. souray was my nhl 2004 deadline pickup, and i lost in the first round. nevermind. |

No thanks. We had a chance on him years ago and missed. He has regressed since. |

The guy has a cannon of a shot the problem is he can't defend well at all on defense plus he's paid way too much for what he does. |

I read then recent TSN article about him, but I still don't have an explanation for his career implosion. Alcohol? Did he get his dick caught in a vacuum cleaner? Did he catch his wife cheating on him with Pang? Nobody seems to want to talk about it. All I know is that he became a millionaire, and soon after he was getting cut by the Oilers. Now, when his contract expires, I'm all for inviting him to a training camp tryout and see where it goes from there. |

The Rangers dispatched scouts to watch Souray in Hershey, thinking of picking him up. How did he respond? 3G, 10A in 24 games. In the AHL. He's shot. Let it go. |

woah woah woah, those arnt exactly bad stats in any league for a blueliner. thats more then half a point per game. that wont translate to the same stats in the NHL, but he can still score in the NHL level. would i take him though? probably not. |

An NHL caliber defenseman should be putting up more than that in the AHL, especially at his salary. He's a joke. |

salary doesnt dictate numbers. it dictates expectations, but not numbers. 13 points in 24 games for a blueliner isnt bad. no hes not exactly lighting the world on fire, but its nothing to hold against him. unless the rest of his game has gone to hell. offensively though.... im still not gonna hold THOSE numbers against him. and lets be honest, the ONLY reason hes not with the oilers is because they told him to stay home. which is a major red flag to me, but not his AHL numbers. |

eh, i dug around. the rangers scouts impressed with his game, minus one flaw: his speed. they dont think he could have kept up with the NHL level. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2011/02/ ... s_rangers/ "Souray went plus-3 with an assist in the three games, bringing his stats up to three goals, 11 points and a plus-8 in 22 games this season. But his game slowed down markedly as the weekend progressed, and it is unlikely Rangers GM Glen Sather will be calling his counterpart Steve Tambellini in Edmonton about the 6-4, 233-pound 34-year-old." |

He's going to make another 4.5 next season, and then he'll be looking for a new contract in 12-13, at age 35! I know he will get a few invites to training camp tryouts, just to see what he's got. And who knows, if he drops 15 pounds and works hard enough he might get another NHL gig. Most likely he's content to make some AHL money until he can't play anymore. He's already set for life, so I doubt he's going to even want to get back to the NHL at that age. |

From what I read it was because he looked like a pylon. In Sheldon's defense(if he even deserves one), he did have an injured hand from a fight down there, but his speed was sub-par for even the AHL. ps. If the rags won't give you a shot, no one will. |

His speed has been sub-par and the same with his defensive abilities. We all know the guy can blast the puck the problem really is the money he's making. That's what's keeping him off an NHL team I believe. |
