OK Lets banter about Centers.... Who's out there... who would you trade for and what would it take to get him without killing our future... Richards - not a fan, but thats just me Stastny (spelling) - Enroth may have to go in that deal? Malkin - Doubt the Pens are evening thinking about moving him until Sid is 100% Timmy - what is his value on the open market The third line C in Sj who Phil wanted... Pavelski? -- What would it take to get him? Might be the most realistic option... of the ones I listed..... Anyone got anything else? |

There are a ton of options for a 3rd line center if we need one, but getting a top line center moves everyone else down the chart and fills that hole. If Richards goes to NYR, that leaves very little chance of them re-signing their RFA center Dubinsky. He's not ideal - more of a 2nd line C - but a reasonable offer sheet up to 3.134 mil would require only a 2nd rd pick for compensation. Over 3.134 mil and it's 1st and 3rd rd picks. Buffalo has an extra 2nd rd pick from the Calgary trade. Dubinsky isn't a top line C now, but has some real potential, grit and leadership, so I wouldn't mind having him over any other UFA out there. Stastny would be great, but all reports say Colorado is not moving him. I would still consider Connolly, but only if a lower cost player like Dubinsky is acquired. Then offer Connolly about 3 mil or less for 1-2 years as the 3rd C of a Roy/Dub/TC combo. |

i don't know why no one thinks of arnott on a 1-2 year contract. that was we have something until there's a better FA crop or we can work out a trade. colorado won't be able to keep statsny and duchene and have a complete roster forever. |

Well, I was under the impression that the team would make improvements in the offseason, but probably not land that #1 center this year. Of course, with recent events, I put nothing past them. But even still, if they can nab a good #2 center, Roy stays as number 1, and you have a much better D on paper. Not a bad turnaround for 1 offseason. If they net a true #1 center I think we go instantly to Cup contender. Seriously, Roy is a #1 center on more than a couple teams in this league, so if he's the #2, that's good center depth. A stacked D, with great balance between defense, puck movement, skating and physicality. Ryan fucking Miller in net. It's amazing how different things feel now than under BTG. So exciting to be a Sabres fan. Ham |

The Sabres upgraded two defensemen and exchanged a center for a right wing. That is a good start to the preseason. With those deals being done, acquring or signing the top center is within range. That is the top priority on the list, and it will be done. Resigning Tim Connolly to be your top center would be epic fail. |
