With 1.5 mil in cap room now, and only 12 forwards, which one (or two) players will get the call for the full-time roster? I'm guessing Regier will only be able to fit one more player, and leave a little wiggle room under the cap. I doubt Kassian or Foligno stick around. Adam is a probable choice, but with seven top-six forwards imo, (Vanek, Roy, Pominville, Ennis, Leino, Stafford, Boyes...even Gerbe for eight), Matt Ellis might have a chance. Regier and Ruff may want Adam to keep playing as much as possible in Rochester, while Ellis is a vet that can handle coming in cold. So Adam or Ellis, or somebody else...or leave it at 12 forwards? |

From TBN this morning... "Once again, Ellis' fate is expected to come down to the final days of camp. He's essentially fighting Luke Adam and Cody McCormick for the last forward starting job, with a second player taking the reserve role. The third choice will start in Rochester." With Hecht being out, and the need for a PKing forward I think Ellis has a real good shot, although I think Adam would probably be a much better option if a top 6 guy were to go down, and Adam has improved his game in the defensive end this off season. It's a really tough call. I really like Adam, so I hope he sticks, but Ellis provides experience on the PK. |

I feel like Adam would be best served getting significant playing time in Rochester. Still parts of his game that need work. |

I agree with that, I think he's a natural top 6 forward, so if (God willing they don't) One of our top 6 go down, I'd rather see him called up, than force someone to play outside of their role IE Ellis with Vanek and Roy, or McCormick with Leino and Ennis...something like that. I just can't see Ruff ever breaking up the Goose Gerbe Kaleta line, it's been a killer line all preseason. |
