The undefeated Buffalo Sabres (3-0) will try to make it four wins a row tonight as they conclude a home-and-home series with the Toronto Maple Leafs (2-2) at First Niagara Center. Game time is 7 p.m.

Buffalo edged Toronto 2-1 last night at the Air Canada Centre, with Ryan Miller stopping 33 of 34 Maple Leafs shots to earn his first victory of the preseason. Jason Pominville and Corey Tropp scored for the Sabres, who are looking to win four straight to start the preseason for the first time since 2000 when they won seven in a row before finishing 7-0-1.

Lindy Ruff has already said that goaltender Jhonas Enroth will start and play all 60 minutes for Buffalo tonight. Enroth is 2-0 this preseason with a 1.03 goals-against-average and .958 save %. The Sabres have only allowed one goal in each of their three games so far, and all three have been tied 1-1 after two periods. Buffalo's league-best GAA of 1.00 is tied with San Jose, who have only allowed two goals in two games.

Christian Ehrhoff picked up an assist on Jason Pominville's game winner last night, and is now tied for the team scoring lead with three points (1+2). Patrick Kaleta (1+2) and Nathan Gerbe (1+2) also have three points. Kaleta also tops the Sabres with 12 PIM's. Jason Pominville has scored in each of Buffalo's last two games, giving him a team-high two goals. Pominville is also among the league leaders with nine shots on goal in two games.

Buffalo's penalty killing is at 90% through three games, having killed off nine of 10 opposition power plays. Their power play is just 1-for-12 (8.3%), with Pominville's goal last night being the team's lone man advantage tally of the preseason.

The Sabres will play their third straight game Sunday afternoon in Columbus at 5 p.m. Following that game, Buffalo doesn't play again until they travel to Washington on Friday to face the Capitals in a 7 p.m. start. Buffalo leaves for a Germany one week from today, as they will be participating in the NHL's Premiere Series to open the regular season. Before playing their season opener in Helsinki on October 7 against Anaheim, the Sabres will play an exhibition game against Adler Mannheim on Tuesday, October 4 in Mannheim, Germany.

Does someone want to explain to me how some asshat in Toronto decides they should get 2 of the 3 stars after losing with basically their starting lineup?

What Losers...what an inferiority complex.

It's Toronto. Their fans/organization think they have the best D in the league, they think Connolly is a great back checker who can score 70 points, and they think Reimer is better than Miller.

Cape Breton'er/Don Cherry speak for Toronto ;)

Also, the Sabres could have romped the Make Beliefs last night 20-0, Miller could have had rainbows shooting out of every orifice, Gerbe could have been running around the ACC with a pot of gold dishing out handouts just because and Pegula could be refunding the sad Leafs fans their money for their team losing and they'd still give the 3 stars of the game to the zamboni drivers, the popcorn vendors and the janitors. Or anyone wearing a Maple Leaf for that matter. :snooty:

That's just how they roll in T.O.

Although I like the decision, I was a little wtf? But then I was ok with it again.

Totally digging the play thus far, even though the refs are in the back pockets of Wilson and the Make Beliefs. I like how Myers is letting everyone know that he is aware that he put on size and knows how to use it. I really like the play of the Goose line, just wish something would go Van's way. He's been in good position thus far, but something will fall into place for him soon. Hey! Rounded glass at the bench!! Cool!

20 to go here boys, don't mess it up! We're all over these bastards! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!

I agree that Vanek's been pretty good and that he just hasn't been lucky. And is it just me or he seems faster than before?
