Realistically,l at even strength on Saturday, we carried the play. Tonight, we didn't have a strong forecheck, but we weren't buried in our own zone, either.
The reason for this loss was poor shooting, for one, poor positioning in front of the net. I never saw so many loose pucks in front of the net and the defense looked like they had never seen skates before. VERY sloppy D tonight.
Miller looked shaky, not as confident as we're used to, but not bad enough to lose.

A series can do a complete 180 in 1 game. Chicago was down 2-1 TWICE last year, and found a way to do it. Philly was down 3-0 and made it to the cup finals.

It's not over until you lose 4. Remember that.

QFT. But I'm still sad...

I thought that we really panicked in the last 10 minutes and no one wanted to make a mistake, and it cost us the game.

That is if Boyes, Vanek, Stafford, Ennis, Pominville and Connolly decide to show up and be noticed.

And Gerbe needs to play all 60 min.

I thought Boyes played an outstanding game overall.

They need to dig deep though. Get it back to Philly evened up.

Boyes played great, the only flaws were the stick break and the fan on the shot in the slot. Also, I didn't think Vanek played awful either, he creates chances, and was a huge part on Staffords goal.

They played okay it they were very unnoticeable when it matter most. They have to have a better effort big time.

They lost tonight just so they could win game 6 on home ice to take the series. Such was my epiphany on the john.

The Sabres didn't play a bad game really, they weren't hungry enough for pucks in their own end and getting them out, plus the bounces hurt us, Carter's dump in off Weber and right back to him and off his stick and in, Butler just missing that puck and not being aggressive enough to get to it first for Briere's goal, and a terrible bounce off the partition in the glass where it bounced back into the zone and couldn't be controlled on McCormick's stick.

Come out hungrier next game and win it to tie the series up.

Has stafford been benched??

You know Lindy. He likes to shorten the bench to about 4 forwards, and 3 defensemen in the playoffs.

What the fuck do you expect? You wanna win right? You put your best players out there in he dieing minutes of the game to TIE UP THE GAME!

Do you think anyone would argue against that?? This isn't about the games final shifts. This team has had wasted roster spots in the playoffs before, because LR gets to a point, where he will just sit you, and not reconsider. What good is it to dress a guy to sit on his ass?? If there's 4 "lazy" guys sitting the bench every third period, then that's HIS fault. He coached them, and chose to dress them, ffs. It's fail/fail. You can't roll 2 lines anymore(esp defensively), you'll get crushed.

Winning three in a row isn't going to be easy... Sabres lost home ice advantage. Sabres had trouble winning three in a row in the regular season, and I don't see them doing it easily this series. Game 7 is in our future I hate to say.

Where exactly are you going to manifest these other magical players? Out of thin air?

If a player isn't producing, Ruff has to put the best guys he has on the ice to get the best chance to win. He can only work with what he has.

The point is that this is a recurring theme. At some point you have to give a guy another chance to succeed(as we know the guys he doesn't play return the following year). At worst, when you have the reigns for years, you need to have the right players in place. Midway through the playoffs is no time to realize you have no faith in a players heart/ability. I do understand that injuries are causing most of the shortages now, but in the past he has done it just to be stubborn(see benching Vanek, and playing the same defensemen over and over). LR is a stubborn batstard, and no amount of coaxing will change my mind on that. That kind of coach is also a dying breed.

I'd much rather have the myers pairing over anyone else's right now on the ice all the time.
