Rangers meet Sabres for second time in eight days

SABRES (18-9-2) at RANGERS (14-14-2)

Last 10: Buffalo 6-4-0; New York 3-6-1

Season series: The Sabres and Rangers meet for the second consecutive Saturday night. New York won the first of four meetings this season with a 2-1 win at HSBC Arena last weekend.

Big story: That win has been the only bright spot for New York in its last half-dozen games, as the Rangers have dropped to 10th in the Eastern Conference. The schedule doesn’t get any easier, as Buffalo is in a back-and-forth battle with Boston for the top spot in the Northeast Division.

Team Scope

Sabres: It was Buffalo's turn to recapture first place in the division as the Sabres completed a five-game homestand Friday with their third win, 2-1 over Chicago. Not only did they edge an elite Western Conference opponent, they accomplished it without the services of All-Star goaltender Ryan Miller, who got the night off. Veteran backup Patrick Lalime made 39 saves to pick up his first victory of the season.

Rangers: Since defeating Buffalo a week ago, New York lost the second of a back-to-back on Sunday against Detroit and saw a one-goal lead in the third period disappear in a 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago on Wednesday. Lundqvist did everything he could to make an early goal by Higgins stand up, but his season-high 39 saves still weren't enough for a victory.

Who's hot: Miller is coming off a 35-save shutout as the Sabres beat the Capitals 3-0 on Wednesday and has allowed two goals or less in eight of his last nine starts.

Injury report: Buffalo forward Mike Grier missed Friday's game for personal reasons and defenseman Chris Butler was scratched due to an ankle injury. Forward Paul Gaustad (knee) is on injured reserve.

Brandon Dubinsky, out for New York since breaking his left hand Nov. 7 against Calgary, practiced fully on Friday.

So the question is, does Grier play tonight?

Lindy said they'd evaluate how he's doing before they just inserted him back into the lineup.

The next question is, if Grier does play, has Gerbe played well enough to prevent Lindy from taking him out of the lineup?

And if so, who's going to sit? Adam Mair?

I think Gerbe's still adjusting to the NHL speed. Even though he didn't score last night, I thought he looked more dangerous than he did against the Capitals. It takes a few games to adjust.

I hope he plays. I'd like to get one more look at him.

Either way, LETS GO BUFFALO! LETS GET REVENGE ON THESE SHITTY BLUE SHIRTS!

It's going to be weird seeing an away game after that long home stand.

This is one of those away games that will still be in HD because it's at MSG - correct?

I can't speak for you guys but I'm guessing center ice is going to have the rags feed....no RJ for us out-of-towners.

Should be, but DirecTV hasn't gotten that right yet, so I don't expect that tonight either.

nobody knows if this is illegal or not. myp2p won a courtcase last spring, but isn't allowed to provide certain leagues.
does that mean that the provided feeds are legal?

6-2 Sabres win... They aren't gonna let up on the effort, at least not yet..

Last nights win was prolly one of the happiest wins of the year.. They must feel really good right now and I think you'll see it on the ice tonight...

It might be tough getting back up for this game after two huge wins over the Caps and Hawks.

If Grier is playing...I hope he scores one for Momma Grier! Maybe playing will keep his mind off of it.
Anybody know exactly which day she passed? I was under the impression that it happened at the beginning of the week.
Anyways, GO SABRES! keep on climbing!
