Northeast division leading Buffalo will look to stay red hot against old division rival Montreal, who are just hoping to stay alive in the playoff race. The Sabres welcome back Mike Grier, who will be playing with a heavy heart in his first game back since the death of his mother.

The question for Buffalo: Will the "Top Six" finally begin to perform at the level they are being paid, or just keep mailing in mediocre performances while Ryan Miller, the defense, and the 3rd and 4th lines carry their water.

The question for Montreal: Can they gel all the new, shiny pieces together before it's too late?

Subplot: Will Kaleta and Mara continue their feud? No love lost between them, and last time the teams met they dropped the gloves near the end of the Sabres blowout victory.

Records: SABRES (19-9-2) 40 pts. CANADIENS (15-15-3) 33 pts.

Last 10: Buffalo 7-3-0; Montreal 4-4-2

Season series: Tied 1-1, with Montreal taking the opener in OT, 2-1, and the Sabres burying the Habs in the next match up, 6-2.

Nice! Love how you used player jerseys instead of the fronts...Kaleta vs Mara is one of the best blood feuds in the game today!

We need to continue this streak. These are the things that really build up when it comes time to make the playoffs. I'm hoping to lock the playoffs before game 82 this season...hopefull by 76-78.. Streaks like this really help you in the standings.
My prediction: The Sabres top 6 continue to blow, and we win 1-0, Mike Grier with the goal (myers, kaleta)
Miller stops 22.
Either that or we lose 1-0 in a shootout, and Miller makes 46 saves and calls out his team after the game. (the shootout goes to 16 rounds)

Remember...I called it first. :D

How I love posting this....

Quote:
Buffalo News:

Ruff will likely use Grier as the right winger on the fourth line with Matt Ellis and Adam Mair, allowing red-hot Patrick Kaleta to stay up on a scoring line.

"Now that he’s our hottest goal scorer, we’ll leave him up on one of the top lines," Ruff said of Saturday's two-goal scorer.

They're obviously happy with the way Gerbe was playing, because even with an injury, they're keeping him up on the Sabres roster.

NICE! I was happy with how he is playing now. Let's get him another goal soon.

I think they are happy with his play anyways. He gets rewarded with a lot of ice time, and powerplay time. I think he has looked great too. I wanna see him up for at least a few more games and then we can decide where to go with him from there.

By pointing out he can't be demoted, I don't want to diminish that Gerbe has been playing well.

Gerbe goes back to Portland when Gaustad returns. He definitely helped himself, particularly in that 1st game when he chalked up a goal and an assist, but his call-up was temporary not sticky.

Ya. I'm most impressed that they are winning during a tight schedule. They are showing us they're capable of not shitting the bed in back-to-back games, and can put forth a solid effort w/o getting a lot of rest. Something they haven't done in the past.

Well, I'm hoping when I can watch this game it's already like 573737-0 or something.

I'll miss the first period of the game because I am going to go to my old High School's winter Concert, just to see my buddies.

Much as I'll miss RJ tonight, I'm absolutely thrilled to be watching the Sabres in HD.

Versus. Ugh.

I love the Kaleta-Mara Jerseys in the first post. Wonder if they'll go again tonight? Probably better for Patty if they didn't...

Let's open a can of whoop-ass in their building. Shut up their "ole" crap.
