First GDT I've created... bear with me!

--- 41-13-8 ---------------------------- 33-19-9 ---

Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres return for their first home game since the Olympic break worse for wear after a kick-in-the-gut loss to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Sabres, who started slow in Pittsburgh, will look to overtake Ottawa for the Northeast division lead.

Will we see a different team, in mind AND in personal, with the trade deadline looming at 3 PM tomorrow?

Will the Sabres bounce back and prove they are playoff worthy with a win over the Eastern Conference's #1 team?

All of these questions and more will be answered when the puck drops at 7 PM.

Well Miller made me soooo angry over the Olympics when he robbed Team Canada 8 million times. If he can continue this mastery then I'll be very very pleased.

Hopefully we'll be fired up for our first home game in a couple weeks. Miller will be on fire, and so will the players...because the crowd will be loud from the first Ryan Miller save, and the players will play more confidentally with Miller backing them!
GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to think your match-up favors us PSP. Ovie really has no chance against Pominville. lol

it will be an interesting day none the less. If nothing happens for the sabres during the day one can hope that the team comes to play and shows the fans they can win, so the fans have some hope, as it seems hope is hard to find sometimes in this city. Glad the Pens fans gave miller the ovation. now if that was philly stones might have been thrown. Here's to a win.

Lord knows us fans need it.

The bad part here is that if we make a deal, then we'll be missing those players from the line up vs. the Caps. Oh the horror.

Thanks PSP for posting the GDT and you did a fine job. I was just trying to wait for an adequate preview to be posted, I guess that's why the make an edit button. :D Well, here is the preview for everyone.

Oh, also a reminder, the game is on VERSUS so WE ALLLLLLLLLL get to hear Joe Beninati tonight Image

Miller, Ovi return as Sabres host Caps
Brian Compton - NHL.com Staff Writer

Season series -- This is the fourth and final meeting between the teams. Washington has won two of the first three, including a 5-2 victory at the Verizon Center on Dec. 23, 2009. Nicklas Backstrom scored twice for the Caps.

Big story -- Washington returns to the ice for the first time since the Olympic break, which means it's Alex Ovechkin's first game since Russia was pummeled by Canada in a 7-3 loss in the quarterfinals. The NHL standings should cheer Ovechkin up, though -- his Capitals have built a 12-point lead in the Eastern Conference.

Team Scope:

Capitals -- Is goaltending an issue in Washington? We'll find out on Wednesday if GM George McPhee thinks so, as the trade deadline is set for 3 p.m. ET. A handful of goalies are available, but it's up to McPhee to either go for an upgrade, believe Jose Theodore can get the job done in the postseason or truly begin the Semyon Varlamov era in Washington.

"I don't know," Caps coach Bruce Boudreau said when asked who he believes will be Washington's No. 1 goalie in the playoffs. "(Theodore) has been playing really great of late and when (Varlamov) was healthy he was playing good and when (Michal Neuvirth) was healthy he was playing good, so it is a tough call. I'm glad we don't have to make that call in the next day or two."

Sabres -- After a sensational Olympic tournament, Ryan Miller will make his NHL return on Wednesday night. Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff decided to give Team USA's No. 1 goalie an extra night off, as he played Patrick Lalime in Tuesday's 3-2 loss at Pittsburgh.

"He became a little bit of a rock star out there … everybody knew him, and every TV you watched he was on," Sabres defenseman Henrik Tallinder said of Miller. "He had an unbelievable Olympics. I hope he can bring that to our team, obviously. But he's always been that good. We just hope he can bring that little bit extra to the final stretch of the season."

Who's hot -- Caps forward Mike Knuble has 13 goals in his last 16 games, while Ovechkin leads the League in goals (42), points (89) and plus/minus (plus-43). … Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta had two assists and was a plus-2 in Buffalo's return to action on Tuesday against the Pens.

Injury report -- Caps forward Jason Chimera and defenseman Tom Poti are both suffering from groin injuries, but neither is considered to be serious. … Buffalo is boasting a healthy lineup.

Stat pack -- Wednesday marks the second of 16 games that Buffalo plays in March. Of its final six games in April, five are on the road.

Puck drop -- "We've made it know from Day 1 that we want to be the best team in the League. That starts with winning your division, winning the conference and winning the League overall. Ultimately, maybe none of that matters if you don't have playoff success, but those are stepping stones to put you in the right direction." -- Caps center Brendan Morrison

I foresee Varly starting in goal for the Caps since Theodore hasn't been stellar before the break. As for our Sabres, it was refreshing to see Pattymouth out there drawing penalties and trying to drive people through the boards. Hopefully we'll see more of that tonight. Sadly they have continued their sorry ass play and showing their lack of scoring ability last night, hopefully our "scorers" will show up tonight. This is the last time we will be playing the #1 team in the East (unless, of course, we meet them in the playoffs) so I would love to pull out a win (in regulation) to tie the series at two each. I don't know what Miller will do now that he doesn't have a team in front of him that is willing to stick up for and protect him..... Has anyone heard how Gaustads' hand is doing????

Someone should draft a letter to versus asking them not to put any of our games on their channel haha. I bet with their website and whitepages.com you could get the home addresses of some execs pretty easily.

If Darcy refuses to make any moves to improve this team today, would anyone going mind starting or participating in a "F you Darcy" chant? Loud enough so I can hear it on TV? ;)
