It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Welcome back to the first ever *~~--Junkie Game Day Thread---~~* When us board members are referred to, we will now be known as junkies. Hence why these will (because I said so) be called Junkie Game Day Threads! Who: Montreal Where: Buffalo When: 7:00PM *starts singing* Spacho Spacho Man... I want to be a Spacho Man Jaroslav Spacek returns to Buffalo in hopes of beating his former team. With the likes of Grier and Rivet, the Sabres won't be taking shit from anyone. Habs won their last outing with a 4-3 OT win, which still counts as a +1 in the win column. Buffalo will look to but a +1 in their loss column, as they start their season at home. Home and Season openers combined are so much better than any one of them by themselves. I will be rooting on the Buffaslugs from my home desk chair sitting in front of my computer watching online. Where will everyone be for this game? Ready! SET! LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED YOU VROOM VROOM PAHTAY STAHTAH! |

Ahhh...a new season!! Living away from Western NY it never fails that with the new season as I slip into my jersey and go out into the world to spread the good word of the Sabres some well intentioned church goer tries to save me. Each season I am faced with a choice. Either tell them to fuck off and die or patiently explain that "Satan" is not in fact the name of the fallen angel that rules over Hell but rather a hockey player born in Czechoslovakia. YEAH HOCKEY!!!! |

Stafford still may play, which would pose an interesting decision regarding Kennedy. I am guessing he'd suit up and replace either Paille or Ellis on the 4th line... depending on which way they want to go. I'd kinda like to see Kaleta and Kennedy, two 23 YO Buffalo boys, together on the same line playing for the Buffalo Sabres. How cool would that be? |

GOOD GOD I NEED MY FUCKING FIX! The season opens in so many optimistic ways - at home, against a divisional rival, wearing the beautiful third jersey, with promising rooks Kennedy and Myers starting, and Mike Grier back to tell people not to fuck around anymore. To Tully's, for drinking, debauchery, and derisive shouting at TV's! (Tomorrow!) |

Buffalo News: Quote: Anyone wondering how top prospect Tyler Myers will fare in the NHL won't have to wait much longer. The Buffalo Sabres' 6-foot-8 defenseman is expected to be in the opening-night lineup.
Coach Lindy Ruff said today that Toni Lydman is out for Saturday's game against Montreal in HSBC Arena. That opens up a spot on the blue line, and Myers has earned that spot. "In all likelihood, yeah, he’s going to play with Toni being out," Ruff said. "He’s played well. He maybe started a little slow, but his last few games he played very good hockey for us. He’s earned it. He’s earned the right to play. He’s played as good or better than some of our other players." Lydman skated with his teammates for the first time all week. Forward Drew Stafford, meanwhile, rejoined a regular line after being slowed by a mild concussion this week. The right winger said he has improved over the past days and is ready to play. The Sabres' lines from today's skate, which could change against the Canadiens if Stafford is healthy enough to play significant minutes: Thomas Vanek-Derek Roy-Tim Connolly Clarke MacArthur-Tim Kennedy-Jason Pominville Jochen Hecht-Paul Gaustad-Mike Grier Patrick Kaleta-Matt Ellis-Stafford Extras: Nathan Paetsch-Adam Mair-Daniel Paille Defense pairings: Chris Butler-Craig Rivet Andrej Sekera-Steve Montador Henrik Tallinder-Tyler Myers |

Seems like Kennedy beat out Paille for the final regular spot in the lineup. |
