Post subject:  Goodbye to the "Slug"?
Found this article on WGR550.com and sure enough it seems as if the sabres are going to abandon the "slug" :violin: and go back to the original days of the cross sabre swords!!! :D

"BUFFALO is doing away with the so-called 'slug' logo on both its home/blue and road/white jerseys, presumably returning, full-time, to the club's original 'cross-swords' logo, now in use on the throw-back third jersey."

Shortly lived was the slug! Hopefully it's welcome back to the original! Do you think they're just going to use the current third jerseys or create a whole new "original cross-sword" jersey? You know what this means folks, put aside your "slug" for memories and grab a sabres third jersey :D

Your thoughts?

I was just thinking of this a few games ago when we were wearing the blue 3rd jerseys.. I wanted to get rid of the slug, but at the time I thought they would never do it in the next 10 years..

Great news, hope it's true!!

It's pretty obvious that most of the fans want to get rid of the slugs.. Id day if you asked 100 random people at least 85 of them would want the swords logo back.. And Im sure the FO knows it..

I must agree! I'm putting my slug jersey in the closet for memories! Waiting till next year to see if they create something new! Then i'm buying 2-3 jerseys haha Miller, Myers and probably Kaleta :D oh and maybe Gaustad too haha start the birthday/Christmas lists right now!

The slug jerseys will make fine toilet paper; though it could be rightfully argued they aren't fit to wipe your ass with.

The Goat Head Uniforms were certainly a large improvement over what we are currently wearing - sans our thirds. I would rather go back to those than stay in the slugs were it a choice.

However; the original white's were one of the finest uniforms in the NHL - ever. Many of our new fans are seeing these for their first ime in earnest. The look is pretty damn amazing; especially in high definition TV.

If we go back to the original - or a reasonable facsimile, I'm betting they will easily be the top - or near the top, of sales of NHL jerseys.

It's DEFINATELY true. It was mentioned by Golisano on in interview on WGR about a year ago. Now new sources are breaking through and confirming this information.

I ponied up the money for a slug jersey, since the thirds weren't available at the time. This is a big deal for me, because that's a lot of money for an article of clothing, in my house. So, if they ditch the slug, I will not be getting a new jersey, and I will be left with an out of date one. That being said, if they asked me, I'd tell them to ditch the slug. I love seeing this team in the stylish originals.

The Larry even said it'd be getting shitcanned on multiple occasions - Schopp and the Bulldog, Leafs Lunch, etc etc.

I also miss the Evil Goat, btw.

First day those new white jerseys are available, I'm buying a Myers.

Aaron, I think, did a mock-up of it in blue and gold on the current home sweater. It was a cool looking third jersey.

A palatable idea. The Satanic Sheep Head was not a bad logo; and it would really look nice in Blue and Gold, as has been published before.

If not, possibly a black, white and red version of the to be new uni's.....
