I know they have alot of older players on the team but on paper this team should be way much better than they are at the moment. I believe they lost the last three home games and are just trying to make the playoffs. Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan, Hiller, Niedermayer, Selane and Koivu probably in their last year or two and this team is just playing like shit when they need to be making a run. I guess we don't have it that bad in Sabre Land.

We could be the Oilers or the Leafs.

They're not that good. That's what happens when you have a ton of dirty players a rack up the PIMs.

I think it's definitely an age thing. They are last place in their division. Look at the teams ahead of them: San Jose (regular season powerhouse which could go far this year), Phoenix and LA (two very young teams that keep getting better), and Dallas. Dallas and Anaheim are pretty much the same team on paper. The goal differential is suprising for these teams. Dallas and Anaheim have 184 and 185 goals for respectively and both have 206 against. Phoenix only has 176 goals for, but only 164 against. San Jose and LA are +52 and +25 respectively. Anaheim is out scoring their opponents in the 1st period and then get outscored the 2nd and 3rd. I think this must have something to do with their age compared to some of the younger teams.

Truculence, beligerence and dirty quarks hockey can win you fights but not Stanleycups. You think they suck at the moment? Just wait till they lose Niedermeyer and Selanne.

To sum them up:
Not enough young talent (despite Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, Hiller) and to much dirty players.

They're still a team that can be scary come playoff time, if they make them.
