I'd like to see them do something about the super long contracts intended to game the cap.
IE, player that realistically can play 5 more years gets signed to a 10 year front loaded contract in order to get the cap number lower.
Case in point : Marion Hossa. He's signed through 20/21. He's paid $7.9M per through 15/16, then drops off to:
16/17 : $4M
17/18 : $1M
18/19 : $1M
19/20 : $750k
20/21 : $750k
The only purpose for a contract structured like that is to bring the cap number down. If Hossa plays until he's 38, and retires, he still makes almost all the possible money ($59.3M out of a possible $62.8M) , and Chicago has no cap penalty.
I'd like to see that practice stop.
I think the easiest way to do this is to not make all contracts guaranteed, but more incentive based.
