"Mr. Wisniewski delivered a retaliatory hit to the head of an opponent who never had possession of the puck," explained NHL senior vice president of hockey operations Colin Campbell in a statement.

but I understand Wisniewski's call out for inconsistint suspensions even though he is a repeat offender.
"I am, however, very disappointed in the length of the suspension. Eight games is incredibly hard to swallow, especially in comparison to other recent hits that have resulted in lesser punishment."

Clearly we just roll dice to get suspensions in the NHL

I agree with Mike about the consistency argument, as Wisniewski has a point there.

I also agree with Mike about it being a predatorial hit. Wis went in there looking to damage Seabrook, and knocked him out on his feet. Mission accomplished.

I just watched the video - I applaud Toews for dropping the gloves so quickly - Rivet would have waited a game or two.

Toews never made the statement "you're not going to take liberties with this team" - or whatever the fuck Rivet said

either im breaking people down, or my views have become less radical, because everyones agreeing with me recently. whats up with that? maybe im less edgy when im getting sex.

also, claude lemeuix and darren mccarty did a 20 minute interview yesterday on the 1996 hit on chris draper. both guys understood each other, shook hands, and left it in the past. very refreshing to see.

I'm seriously taken back by my own standards of contact these days. I dunno that looked like a double minor for interference and charging... I have no idea how cooke's hit got him nothing and this warranted even a single game

Rivet did drop them last night when Butler was hit. Unfortunately the instigator and 10 major was for not since the replay showed that it wasn't much of a hit. I do applaud Craig for standing up for one of his teammates  To little to late tho

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

For me, I'm susprised how Cooke didn't get a single game either, but I certainly see why this got a hefty 8-gamer. Also, I think Ovechkin needed a longer suspension not because of the hit, but because of his track record of hits.

Agreed...NY Intensity needs to chill out a bit there

It was a dirty hit, but 8 games? Give me a break!

Hmm, he ditches hockey, decides to hit him in the face with a dirty hit and he didn't have the puck. Wisniewski left his feet, charging, hit to the head, and he didn't have the puck. SOUNDS LIKE MORE THAN 8 GAMES TO MEH!
