Sore back may sideline Oilers' Pisani long term

"EDMONTON - Edmonton Oilers' winger Fernando Pisani will likely start the National Hockey League season on long-term injured status after an MRI revealed more damage to his sore back than just a muscle strain.

The Oilers aren't revealing the exact nature of Pisani's injury but it was clear he was in major discomfort when he arrived at Rexall Place Tuesday morning.

If he is put on long-term injured status, he will have to remain there for 24 days, or 10 games, and his $2.5 million salary will not count against the team's cap hit."
