personally, I wish the NHL had no teams South of West Virginia.
To be honest not me, some of the southern teams are doing just fine.
Without teams South of West Virginia, the people who fled the north wouldn't see hockey at all, and with those continuing to flee south, the knowledge of hockey grows. Because they have kids and they get into either the Northern Team or they get into the local team. Of course it won't be as big as the North since it is harder to play outside just in the winter, but it grows. You need to give a team at least one generation of say around 20 years before you call it completely unsuccessful.
That one generation gets into hockey from their northern Parents, thus their kids of say a very young age will get into hockey.
My kids will be in hockey, and they aren't going to ever be born in the North.
do to a lack of attention, I failed to notice that you Sky are South of West Virginia. And you make a valid point. So I retract my previous statement.
My Neighbor is from Buffalo, but he's been down here for 15 years or so, and he is a fan of the Hurricanes because he basically saw the franchise start and such. His kid is 8 or so and she is into hockey, not huge but she likes it.
I mean it takes time for something weird like that to get bigger. I know nothing will ever trump College Basketball where I'm at, but having a hockey team is a good thing for an area with a lot of Northern Transplants.
It will never be as big as a Detroit, Buffalo, or Toronto fanbase, but just general hockey fans from all over the USA who have moved to a southern market still loves to watch hockey, even if they can't watch their favorite team play every other night or so. I want to go see other games with other teams playing because I'm a hockey fan, I can only watch the Sabres play twice a year, but I can watch hockey 41 times a year if I wanted to now. And it is a very close arena with about 300K people around.

No need for violence, just tell her she's got a game misconduct and show her the door.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
