Who's in the running for the Calder this year? Who are the goaltenders/defenseman that are getting recognition?

Right now, Tyler Ennis is tied for the league lead in rookie scoring:

I'm sure the trendy pick will be Jordan Eberle.

They didn't even put Ennis on a poll for the best rookie so far. They put Hall, Seguin, Eberle, Jeff Skinner, and someone else. Screw you NHL.com.

Well, Hall and Seguin are just on there because they were the top picks. Eberle is outplaying Hall so far.

Eberle is outplaying a lot of Oilers, not just Hall.

On HF Boards, the Calder thread has Ennis, Eberle, and Subban at the top of the list with Stepan being the dark horse. I can get behind this line of thinking.

What about Carlson for Washington? He's listed as D and he's 3rd in rookie scoring, and he's got a solid +/-. I haven't seen him play yet. Anyone?

I haven't seen him play yet either but he does look like he's doing fantastically. If his production keeps up, he could take it. I gotta reserve judgement on him til I see him. However, I watched him a lot in the WJC last year and he was just beastly.

Meh... Subban is overhyped IMHO.

I think he's overhyped right now, but he'll be dynamite during his career. John Carlson may be benefitting from playing in the Caps' system. It's a little early to talk the Calder, but dammit it's fun anyways.

I've seen Skinner play and he looked good. I don't know about Calder material but he surprised me considering he is just 18 years.

Skinner has looked pretty good the games I've seen him play.

But it's most likely going to come down to Eberle, Ennis, and Carlson.

But if The goalie for Philly keeps it up, his name can be in the running too.

Hall and Sequin won't do much this year, they aren't as good as Crosby or Ovechkin were at the time, Malkin or even Stamkos, and Stamkos didn't even win the Calder.

Tavares was suppose to win the Calder last year too, and we see how that worked for him.

Maybe they did list Cam Fowler, and it wasn't on that list. Anyways, he has 3 points in less than 6 games. He was just turning it up a notch when Doan wrecked him, too. I'd list him top 5, but maybe I'm biased.

I'd say Eberle but only if Taylor Hall does get his ass in gear.

Agreed, he looks like a veteran out there.

Would Ennis be moved up into Connolly's place if we, say, traded him?
