Maybe. They'd be able to blow up the team in the summer of 2011 and re-form it under the image of a Kovy/Tavares/Okposo line with lots of young supporting staff and wily veterans, but it's still a ludicrous price to pay.

Anyways, a Russian magazine or newspaper is reporting that the KHL club SKA has offered him a 4 yr $9M per deal and he (being Kovalchuk) told them if they'd increase it to $10M per he'd sign with them immediately.

He plays decent enough defense, actually. He's great defending the point in the defensive zone, blocking he shot, then sprinting away for a break or 2-on-1.
