I don't remember that; I must have had a rough nite at ETC's pub....!! :o

Be glad you don't remember...I snapped a quick pick of her having a snack after you had finished eating.

I find it rather shocking that folks are being so nasty about a player who was one of the longest tenured Sabres on the roster...

A player who provided some amazing highlight reels over the years (i.e. the "360" goal against TB), even though he "can't score".

A player that created a tremendous amount of open space on both ends of the ice simply with his remarkable skating ability. How many scoring chances has he created not only for himself, but teammates as well, over the years simply by forcing defensemen to focus all of their attention upon him? But all he can do is "give away the puck", eh?

Just because some folks see him as an "underachiever" doesn't negate the fact that he proudly wore whatever colors the Sabres organization threw at him over the past NINE PLUS YEARS. Nobody can ever take away the fact that he played all out and at least tried to make the most out of the shifts he was given under Lindy's wonderful tutelage and whacked out lines. And another hearty FUCK YOU to Ruff, for not dressing him for his last game, you classless asshole.

I wish every player on the team played with the heart he has.
Max will always be one of my favorite Sabres, even if he ends up playing for (insert random team here). I wish him nothing but the best.

Wow...is the sky red over your house too? A couple of hi-lite reel goals means what exactly??? Creating space? He was never a playmaker, that cannot be argued...ever! He created space for himself with his speed, but never produced much with it. He had one really good season when the post lock-out game revolved around speed and confused defenseman didn't yet adapt to the newly enforced obstruction rules. After that d-men just let him skate in circles because he never drove the net. His most important goal ever was the OT playoff goal, and it was simple. He got the puck on net with a simple slap shot. If he could have had that mind set 5-on-5 and played a team game he would have been three times the player he was, regardless of stats.

His teammates didn't like him, his coach didn't like him, nobody knew what he was doing out there half the time. I don't know why you can't understand this unless you just didn't watch many games. He signed late in the summer with a crappy team for one year and 800k. Is that not at least a small clue to you about his value? I guess me, squanto, and the rest of the NHL are wrong about him.

Oh my dear sweet lord! Luckily I have always never been attracted to fat chicks - regardless of my level of intoxication!

Even that image is making me lose my appetite!!

Still, maybe we can send her out to defuse DF; she may end up being his angel of mercy....

Tallinder and Kalinin were once highly valued defensemen. Hecht was a prized two-way player. Fact is, players can play their way from the penthouse to the doghouse to the outhouse in a few short years, and Max is a perfect example of this. His selfish, inept play earned him every bit of the mockery and abuse he took from the fans, media and message boards, and he deserved to be a healthy scratch last year that was unceremoniously dumped in the off season.

No excuses, nobody's fault but his. He had some great moments and a couple good years, but he earned his way down from the top two lines, to the 3rd line, to the 4th line, to healthy scratch, to unconditional release. Good bye, good luck, and good riddance.

A player like Afinogenov needs to be paired with players at his skill level. Ruff, for whatever reason, wouldn't do that for him or for the team. Atlanta can do that for him. He'll certainly get a better shake in Atlanta then he got playing with Mair, Peters, and Kaleta.

I'm about to flip my fucking lid. This must be the most bullshit thing I've ever read about Max.

Nothing personal man, but you're so far off on this it's not even funny. Max had opportunity after opportunity in Buffalo. He EARNED his way down to the 3rd and 4th lines. His presence on the top two lines was a detriment after he decided he was going to continue to play without his teammates.

I'm sick and tired of hearing how Max 'wasn't treated fairly' or 'didn't have opportunities'. IT'S BULLSHIT.

...Geez. He's gone, and he still makes Sabres' fans unhappy - That's quite a talent he's got.

I agree, ETC. But I still wish him well wherever he goes. That's all I'm sayin... 8-)

I don't wish him bad things, but I'm very happy he's somewhere else.

rbochan, I'm well aware and remember all of 05-07, but those years were an anomoly. You can say the exact same thing about almost any skill player in the league, because everyone's stats spiked up during that time. Plain and simple, Max wasn't as good as people wanted him to be both before the lockout and once the game returned to defense first. I can't say anything better than squanto and ETC in their last posts. He's gone and the Sabres are better for it.
