Tomorrow will be the first time rehabbing goaltender Rick DiPietro practices with the team, Scott Gordon said.

While the full group will not be on the ice at IceWorks in Syosset tomorrow--since the Islanders will arrive in New York late after tonight's game--DiPietro's participation tomorrow will be viewed as the next significant step in his rehabilitation.

"Everything has gone according to plan," Gordon said before Monday's game against Toronto. "This isn't anything unexpected. We'd be disappointed if he wasn't on the ice soon."

DiPietro, who began skating in August for the first time since suffering a season-ending knee injury last year, has taken gradual steps adherent to a strict rehab protocol throughout the past two months. This development indicates he is progressing steadily toward his return.

After DiPietro practices with the team, he will eventually head to Bridgeport for a conditioning stint, during which he'll likely play 2-5 games before making his 2009-2010 debut.
