I generally get bored/pissed with that game at around 5-10 years when the league is filled to the brim with 80+ overall players... all seemingly with A potential still to go.

In my BAP I'm only on my fourth year though, so it's all good.

Reports are coming out that Alexander Frolov has signed a one-year deal with the Rangers. Just so everyone knows, it was Frolov's agent himself who broke the story to Sovetsky Sport.

Awaiting domestic confirmation.

Where did they get the money?

It's not so much, where did they find the money? It's moreso, where are they gonna fit in Staal's extension?

As long as Staal get around 2.5 mil they should be fine (cap wise of course, lol). He would be the 7th d-man under contract and they only need two forward spots to fill after that, with 4 mil in cap space currently.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Staal like their defensive cornerstone/future (and probably present) super stud shut down d-man? If that is the case, I would think he'd be looking for more.

He's not THAT good (only for NYR maybe), but he may very well end up with more than 3 mil per.

I honestly wasn't sure how good he was. I just recall an earlier discussion about him and how good he was as a shutdown d-man. It'll depend on how much Frolov gets. Eventually, Staal is going to have to sign or request a trade. Doesn't he become ineligible to play this coming season if he doesn't sign by a certain date since he's not going to arbitration?

If RFA's don't sign by December 1st, 15th, or 31st they are ineligible to play.

I don't remember which date exactly.

Now NYR is up against it. Frolov's 3 mil puts them at 58.4 mil, with one forward spot open and Staal. I don't think they have any big contracts that they could get rid of (Drury, Redden, Rozsival) or want to trade away (Gaborik, Lundqvist).

They lose Frolov and add Poni...it's a wash or even a possibly downgrade, IMO.

Poni also has just as many points in the playoffs with six times the games played as Frolov. Not so awesome.

I'll give him that, Poni at least makes an appearance in the d-zone.
