The contract is front loaded so as to be cap friendly. He is 32. I seriously doubt he plays another seven years..... |

And to think, he was a bit of an enigma when he was on Calgary. Yeah, its a solid cap hit for the B's. |

Pomminville's historically speaking should be coming up. I thought teams had learned after Briere and Drury not to give big money long term contracts to 30+ year olds. |

"Potential" is the cock-tease of tomorrow - We need scorers and consistent game-day performances and Hockey players who play up to their contracts TODAY! NOW!! Everything else is just so much dick-stroking and bullshit. "Two-year slumps" are horseshit. Pure horseshit. ...New excuse: "Jason didn't ASK to be paid $5.2 mil a season..." Hmmmmmm...where have I heard that, before? Motherfuckers. |

That excuse only works with Vanek. |

hockeyplaya00 wrote: That excuse only works with Vanek. Apologies. ...ummmmmmmmm. Okay: His new contract has put pressure on him to perform and he's holding his stick too tightly and overthinking his shots... And he has a new baby that's been keeping him up at night... And the dog ate his homework... And the situation in Afghanistan is becoming a distraction, because he's a "globally aware" new-age player, and is concerned that the increased military spending will impact the economy and reduce ticket-sales... And he's anxious that he's gotten the best layout possible for his Facebook page, and is wondering whether he should re-do it, because his hit-count has dropped.... And he's torn on the decision of whether to side with Team Jacob or Team Edward... Okay? |

LOL @ Getting upset at people for making excuses to make a situation they have no control over more comfortable and/or enjoyable. |

Now the cap hit for Savard isnt bad but commiting to someone at his age for seven years I dont like. I hope when it comes time for the new CBA teams that signed older players to long term front loaded contracts get screwed over. |

He's injury prone, so they figure he retires due to injury, and they are off the hook completely. The other scenario is you buy him out, which will cost the same as paying him the 5.5 he is worth, w/o the cap hit. I hope Mr. Regier is watching, and learning. Over paying these young guys(as ice said "for potential") is NOT better than paying your veterans with crafty contract negotiations. You AREN'T going to win a cup with an average age of 25 anyways. 4 words that go together well: Ruff, Regier, Quinn, Mediocrity. |
