Markov rebuffs Habs' captaincy offer: report

"Andrei Markov isn't interested in the Montreal Canadiens' captaincy, according to a report.

Markov, who had a turn as an alternate captain last season, turned down the team's offer to succeed the departed Saku Koivu as captain, the Montreal Gazette reported Tuesday."

...Gee. Wonder why? Too much of a pressure-cooker, perhaps? Having to face the scrutiny of the hyenas known as the Montreal media? Perhaps Markov is happy not having to learn to speak French, full time.
