I'm watching the replay of this game, and any time Chicago runs the break out with Kane on the ice, they do the same exact thing.

Kane dips behind the defenseman who has the puck, and then gets a full head of steam going and receives a pass so he's skating full speed by the time the puck's on the blade of his stick.

If they set a forechecker to skate hard on the same side Kane's moving towards, they can pick off that pass all day.

Did anyone else notice this?

No, but it's a chess game. Maybe they were setting Buffalo up to do just that. If you blitz EVERY down, then I'll throw a screen EVERY down. Video sports can sometimes mimic real sports. When I play a video game, I'ma make sure you stop something defensively before I stop doing it to you.

Yeah but even if they didn't play the puck to Kane, it wouldn't put them in a poor position, because only 1 guy would be caught behind the play.

You can certainly adjust your neutral zone setup to eliminate that pass and force Kane to slow down.

Which, I think, would have been a good strategy. With that much speed Kane seemed to have an easy time gaining the line and getting deep. Make them use another option and see if they do just as well.

Kane couldn't stop on a dime. He needed two of them.

Something that irritated me about Kane, and it's the same thing that irritates me about Roy and Connolly sometimes, is that he was getting needlessly fancy when he tried those two Denis Savard spinning backhanders. It didn't work the first time, and the second time he had a backchecker all over him, so it wasn't going to work then. Derp.

Oh man, that's it; his career is over now his secret has been revealed!! :o

Interesting observation, but if something like that is picked up on, he'll just adjust, and do it differently. He's too good to rely just on that tactic.

Not like it matter, We as a team dominated the play in the game.

We had incredible forechecking against Chicago.
