Which NHL team of this decade (the noughties?) is the best? I listed the Stanley Cup winners, but obviously you might believe that the best team from a given year did not win the Cup (for example in '05-'06).

Apparently, I left the "N" off of NHL in the title.

Well to hell with that '06 Swirlies team...
I'll go with the '01 Aves.

I went with the '01-'02 Wings. Hasek, Robitaille, and Datsyuk join Lidstrom, Chelios, Shanahan, Yzerman, and Federov, under coach Scotty Bowman to win the President's Cup and the Stanley Cup.

That was a pretty solid team.

Since there are four Western Conference teams and four Eastern Conference teams this would make an interesting playoff matchup.

Western Semifinals:

'00-'01 Avs vs. '01-'02 Wings
'06-'07 Ducks vs. '07-'08 Wings

Eastern Semifinals:

'02-'03 Devils vs. '03-'04 Lightning
'05-'06 Canes vs. '08-'09 Pens

say, add the losers of the SCFs in and see how well it would go

I'd have to say the Avs 00-01

It's a toss-up between the Wings and the Avs. I'm pleased to see that others agree haha... I'm going to go with the Red Wings, purely because of Hasek.

Stevie Y and the '01-'02 Wings.

They were pretty unstoppable, and just loaded with talent and experience. And it didn't hurt to have Scotty Bowman behind the bench.
