I heard from Pierre Lebrun on the CBC hotstove last night that the Blackhawks, yes the Blackhaws, have interest in him if he isn't resigned.

Not saying it will hapen but if it does happen the Hawks would be a pretty lethal team.

Hahaha Pierre must be retarded to say such a thing.

Unless they could sign him for league min, the Blackhawks WILL NOT EVER get him.

Who's to say they don't trade for him, thinking he's the missing piece, and then let him walk at the end?

This could help the Hawks get rid of some salary like Barker, Sopel and Byfgulien.

And, in doing so, would improve both teams in the process...oh shit, a trade between Chicago and Atlanta could be bad news for everyone else.

Well with what Patkane said, if he isn't resigned.

So unless they try to trade for him, they won't get him, when he hits UFA, he's going to the highest bidder unless a deal is made before July 1st.

the highest bidder he wants to go to. i mean i'm sure some teams say the isles or nashville throw money at kovy, and he says no because he wants to be a contender.

I think the Islanders are starting to piece together a team to make the playoffs in a year or two really.

yea i'm not saying they don't have a future i just think kovy would want a win now situation not be a part of a rebuilding like he has been in Atlanta.

That would make them horrifying to play against.

I'd imagine Kov going to Detroit more then Chicago...

...Unless we swing a 3 team trade where we get kane, give connolly and some other salary dump/prospect, along with a to be announced blackhawk to atlanta so they could trade away Kovalchuck to Chicago. LOLOLOL

Chicago would have to dump a little over $2m in salary to take on Kovie for the balance of the season. (Assuming this were to happen now.)

Don't see it happening.

IF its going to happen the Hawks will become an even more unreal team to play against.

Imo I see kov in the new formed Russian league he's asking way too much money.

He COULD NOT resign there. No room for him. But if they got him this year, they would almost certainly win the cup. That would be ridiculous.

Something like that but they could make room for him, but that is just speculation.

Why screw with that team? I don't think Chicago pulls the trigger.
