Post subject:  Picks for NHL Midseason Awards
your picks...I'm sure you've seen LeBrun's on ESPN.
Here are mine, what're yours???

Hart: Marian Gaborik-NY Rangers: Seriously, which forward is more iimportant to his team's success? When he's hurt, the Rags are punchless.

Norris: Duncan Keith-Chicago Blackhawks: I think Lidstrom's reign is over...time for someone different. Keith's putting up solid numbers and is a +13 so far.

Vezina: Ryan Miller- Buffalo Sabres: Leading or amongst the leage leaders in GAA and SV%. Plus he's making saves that used to elude him.

Calder: John Tavares: NY Islanders: He has made the Isles A LOT more exciting to watch. Living up to the billing for sure.

Adams- Dave Tippett: Phoenix Coyotes: C'mon, raise your hand if you thought that the Coyotes would be in the top 5 in the West at this point. Anyone?

Selke- Jordan Staal: Pittsburgh Penguins: I can admit that I am scared to death when the Sabres are on the power play and Staal is on the kill.

Hart: NJ, Martin Brodeur. The guy is having one of his best years even with a no name defense in fron of him

Norris: San Jose Dan Boyle. I could go with Keith but Boyle is having a hell of a year

Vezina: Buffalo, Ryan Miller. He is having a Hasek like season and he is leading in almost all goaltending stats

Calder: Colorado, Matt Duschene. This guy is quietly having a very good year for the surprising Avs

Adams Colorado, Joe Sacco. Who? This guy has basically all rookies and this team is still this team is very good.

Selke- Anaheim, Corey Perry. Perry is having a pretty good year and no one even talk about the guy.

Hart: Ilya Kovalchuk-Atlanta Thrashers: Not only does he help keep the team afloat, he's probably the only thing bringing the fans into that arena.

Calder: Tyler Myers: Buffalo Sabres: Not a homer pick. Points + Ice Time + +/- + Henrik Tallinder looking reborn + 2nd in the eastern conference for the sabres and a top notch GAA. Miller or the defense, neither ets it done without the other.

Adams- Lindy Ruff: Buffalo Sabres: My real pick was Joe Sacco, but it's been said. So how bout some love for Lindy. Who thought the Sabres would be second in the eastern conference right now?

what? they could have peewees playing that system, and it would work. brodeur is vastly overrated, and secondly, you cant have one goalie winning the hart, and not the veznia.

what? they could have peewees playing that system, and it would work. brodeur is vastly overrated, and secondly, you cant have one goalie winning the hart, and not the veznia.

I agree with Mike about a goalie winning the Vezina, but not the Hart - the only goalie who should be considered for the Hart is the Vezina winner, IMO.

This guy is GREATLY overrated. I see his "highlight" saves, and trust me. They are not Miller saves. His team is awesome. He has Langanbrunner, Parise, Zajac, Bergfors, Elias, Rolston, Andy Greene isn't that bad, and he has Oduya and Martin. His team helps him get those wins. I should Know. I have Parise, Zajac, and Langenbrunner on my fantasty.

Hart: Marian Gaborik-New York Rangers: Without him the Rangers would most likely be dead last in the NHL.

Norris: Drew Doughtry-Los Angeles Kings: Huge turnaround from last year. Is a plus and has a career high in points, and he has to be helping LA do somethign right with their record as of late.

Vezina: Ryan Miller- Buffalo Sabres: Biggest reason for the Sabres success, he is backstopping this team further or what was expected of him, to new heights. Making incredible saves and has been among the leader in Goalie stats all year.

Calder: Tyler Myers-Buffalo Sabres: 23 points as a 19 year old 6 foot 8 defensemen, leading all rookies in ice time, and leading the Sabres in Ice Time. Defense is the hardest to learn and with him he is a natural, future Norris winner.

Adams- Lindy Ruff-Buffalo Sabres: Gone from 10th the past two years to having one great defense and 2nd place in the East, Ruff makes the best come out of some players.

Selke- Jordan Staal-Pittsburgh Penguins: One of the best penalty killers in the league, if you give him space on the PK with a puck he is going to score a shorthanded goal.

new jerseys system keeps the puck to the outside, making chances to score alot harder. when team get good chances to score against him, usually thats games you see marty have an "off night"

hes a very good goalie. but i dont think hes one of the best all time.

longevity has alot to do with it. i mean how many seasons passed did marty have just decent numbers? .907 save percentage. or .906? i mean, those are very very mortal numbers. i gauge goalies mainly by save percentage. new jerseys system is a trap system, and many shots are not scoring chances. id take many goalies over him right now based on how i see them play and compare. hes a hall of famer, sure. but i dont think hes that great, especially given how well new jersey did without him last year. proved the system works.
