As Toronto continues to fail, Burke had an impromptu press conference. For what, I'm not sure. But it appears to me he wanted to take the opportunity to insult those who are questioning him and shut people up. Real classy, Brian. Brian Burke is not as smart as many people think he is, he never built that team in Anaheim all he did was add Pronger to that lineup. Also who would trade 2 firsts and a second to get Kessel when you need to rebuild  And when Anahiem won the cup he came off more of an asshole then he already was. I hate Kevin Lowe but he said when was asked about Burke and the Penner thing, Lowe says " Yeah so what if he won a cup, I have won it 5 times as a player."

Well, he doesn't make trades for Team USA, he just picks the players. It's not falling into his apparent weakness of not knowing how to efficiently bring in talent. The talent is either available to him or not. He's just gotta pick 'em. Ham |

He has a good idea of what a good hockey team should be built like, but he has no idea how to get there as an NHL general manager. Trading away picks, and surrendering a first rounder for a guy that you really can't build around in Kessel is just stupid. |

i dunno... cause they got a young future star goalie (hes already good) and kessel. and chances are that around the deadline, he will get a first rounder back for hagman (apparently, he was already offered a first rounder for him) and kessel in my opinion is a dynamic player. you cant build from utter shit over night. if hes given a few years, that team will be dangerous. |

He's basically babysitting Team USA. They will sink or swim on their own merit. His original plan with Toronto was sound; let a floundering ship sink. He planned on getting a few very early picks - much like Pittsburgh did a few seasons back. The fans were okay with this; as they've been so mediocre for so long. The move for Kessel undercuts his own plan. Without a playmaking center, Kessel will not score a ton of goals - if he would at all. His team still sucks; but has not first rounder the next two years, barring a trade. He got impatient, and cut his own throat. Not the stuff genius is made of... Unless Kadri is the next Gretzky.

Mr. Truculence is a pussy he fucked over the Leafs future just to get Kessel. As much as he hates rebuilding its the way to do it look at the Pens, Blackhawks... Kessel is a good player but not worth 2 first and a second. Now we all know why he loves Toronto microphones/media coverage 24/7. Egomaniac bastard. |
