This is unconfirmed, so don't get excited as of yet, but, Kaberle is willing to waive NTC if Buffalo is the destination.
This is being tweeted about by several sources, one of them is Dallas Dave, a guy that has hit the nail on the head several times today already.

 Wait, wait a sec.

You mean someone actually wants to come to our team? OUR TEAM!? The Sabres right? Buffalo?

I know it would mean a deal with the enemy, and we could potentially end up losing big in this, but right now for the moment...

 Please Darcy. Make some noise.

Wait, what? Seriously? I'm really excited now.

Stafford, Butler, 1st? Something like that?

I'd say a 2nd rounder instead of the 1st

Yes please. How much contract does he have left though? (for number crunching's sake)

nhlnumbers.com has him down for 4.25 a season through the end of 2011. Sounds perfect to me.

As much of a pipe dream as it is (this is way too big a move for Darcy to make), Kaberle would fit right in. He's be the team's leader on the PP, and would add a secondary rush threat from the defense. A top PP pairing of Kaberle-Myers would be scary.

For whatever he has remaining this season plus 4.25 next season to help nurture Myers' game, I'd say do it in a heartbeat if Burkie will take a reasonable enough package.

That would be awesome. I like Kaberle.

Burke has said a million times that Kaberle isn't going anywhere... quite emphatically.

Exactly. Besides, 99% of these threads are better for fun speculation anyways.

I agree totally that Kaberle would be a solid pickup but like you said it's way too big a move for Darcy to make so dream on!

Hasn't every Toronto GM said that about Kaberle?
