Nobody's watch hockey today? 'Yotes up 4-2 with a couple left. Amazing. Watch the 'Yotes win it all and we can add another non-traditional hockey team's name to the Cup before the Sabres. @#$%&*! |

I checked in on the Yotes game a few times. The more I thought about it, Phoenix looked better and better. EVERYONE was taking the Wings, even as a lower seed. To me, that's a huge warning sign. |

Far be it for me to criticize, but there were an awful lot of empty seats in Detroit with 5 minutes left to go. Quite odd to see that. |

my dad and i discussed the difference between the sabres and red wings fan bases today. detroits 4 times the size of buffalo. detroit is entitled to have a team. buffalo is a small city that, based on population, SHOULDNT have a team. but they do. its you against the world, and its YOUR team. you feel a closeness to the team that detroit doesnt. and also, as i said yesterday, here, if the red wings are eliminated, we dust off our tigers jerseys, and head on down to comerica park, or to the palace to watch the pistons. buffalo has to wait for the fucking bills! no wonder the passion is tenfold. we both noticed it. and it is this, based on the smaller town feel, that i IMPLORE the nhl to examine a team in seattle, or a smaller city. BUT, believe me, the fanbase here for the wings is strong, and its a legit hockey town. but really, the detroit tigers come first, and, this will seem odd to you, but the lions are big, but we love our college football more. |

Detroit: The Incredible Shrinking City Population, 1950: 1,849,568 Population, 1960: 1,670,144 Population, 1970: 1,514,063 Population, 1980: 1,203,368 Population, 1990: 1,027,974 Population, 2000: 951,270 Detroit is at about its pre-1920 population. This, in spite of the fact that Michigan's overall population has grown every decade since 1950. Of, course, Buffalo has been shrinking, too. Population, 1950: 580,132 Population, 1960: 532,759 Population, 1970: 462,768 Population, 1980: 357,870 Population, 1990: 328,123 Population, 2000: 292,648 Buffalo is at its 1890 population level. |

detroit within the city limits is declining, yeah. but the suburbs are exploding. the county north of wayne county, where detroit is, oakland county, is one of, if not the most wealthy county in the nation. |

Devils-Flyers are in OT. Of course, Versus is showing the Sidney Crosby show, as they will the first six Pitt-Ottawa games, the only series that gets so much Versus face-time (the Sabres get two first round Versus games). |
